| It's Just a Flesh Wound (as told by Jebidiah) Characters: Jebidiah (Steve), Raul (GT), Jak (Josh), Althanis (Nick) Setting: A forest clearing in the northeast near Trie This story starts in Kvigmar. The whole party had been fighting against four brother who were sent to kill us by a man, Zek, we knew nothing about but had appearntly pissed off somehow. The four brothers each had a special power. Empyro had the ability to create and control fire; Tizon was made of water and controlled it; Gareth was made of rock and manipulated earth; and Quicksilver had the speed of the wind at his heels. The four of them tried to trap and kill us in Kvigmar, but we were able to slide out after some sly talking to Quicksilver, whom choose not to pursue us for some odd reason. Knowing they would be trouble, we saught out a way to beat them. We learned of a way to make a bane for these brothers in a place called the Dragonlands. These four brothers had appearntly obtained dragon souls and infused them to gain special abilities. After the long journey to find this place, the few dragons we met there were happy to assist in the slaying of these thieves. We left the Dragonlands, and the portal out placed us near Kvigmar. Within only an hour, Empyro had found us. The four brothers had spread out to look for us, and he was the first to succeed. He did not hesitate to attack, he brought forth a raging pillar of fire under Althanis's feet and he was thrown upward. The rest of us charged and (after taking several burns and such) I was able to hit him with his bane and lopped his head off. I was so happy I snatched it up and ran through town. The others struggled to keep up, and now I suppose that making that kind of noise wasn't the best course of action. Near the south gate I eyed Gareth. Forgetting that we had just left a battle, I approched him and the rest could only follow. He was not happy to see the head of his brother without a body, and combat soon began. With being swollowed by the ground, running into stone walls, and being pummeled with rock hard fists, it all ended with Raul making a lucky stab into the ground with his bane. Tired from the two rough battles, we really needed to rest. Althanis wanted to go back to Alber to the monk school (also near the Dragonlands enterance) so we all paid for passage on a boat that was headed for Trie (a city near Alber), and slept as the ship departed. In the middle of the night, we awoke to hear Jak yelling. As we jumped up toward his room, we could see that water had formed around him, crushing his chest while watery fists of rage pummeled his face. I unsheathed the water bane, and as soon he Tizon heard it he turned back into pure water and escaped between the floorboards before I had a chance to strike. The rest of the trip was a sleepless one, everyone taking shifts, everyone being very nervous. We arrived in Trie so tired we could have been mistaken for zombies. As we were walking down the pier, the water rippled and Tizon jumped up, seeing his chance cause we were so weak at the time. I was too weak to reach for the bane, however my chestplate had one charge of horrid wilting (evaporates water at a supernatural rate) and decided now was a good time. In the flick of a wrist the activted it and stood there as Tizon dissapeared into air. We didn't celebrate, we just walked to the inn and passed out. The next morning, fully rested, Althanis left our party momentarily to go to Alber. The rest of us headed east to waste some time till he got back. About a mile out, we saw strong gusts of wind and Quicksilver appeared. He had picked up our scent and headed our way. Raul readied the crossbow that was his bane and got ready. He took a few shots and all missed (cause it was like trying to shoot wind). Jak and I realized we would have to slow him down by being decoys. I raised up Empyro's head and Jak made a quip about him being a only child. Quicksilver dashed forward and with several flashes of a blade Jak was thrown back with hundreds of cuts and unconcious. Raul's shots were still missing, so I did what I had to. I taunted him further with his brothers head and he rushed past me and took it from me. Then he cut off parts of trees (large logs) and kicked them at me before they landed. I'm fairly agile so I was able to dodge around. While he was somewhat stationary doing this, Raul got a shot off that hit, however it wasn't fatal. Knowing that we were getting closer to killing him, he ran forward and cut one of my arms off. Now it was personal, I started cussing him out. This only made it worse, he cut off my other arm and chucked it at Raul, knocking him down. With Raul distracted, he cut off both of my legs and laughed at the trash-talking torse now laying there. Raul, still getting up, needed more time. The world was getting darker so I kept screaming about how his mother and brothers were a matter of bad things. Getting even angrier, he grabbed be by where my legs were and began to use me as a weapon to block Raul's shots and swing me at him. I slipped out of his hands, and his anger was high enough for him to pause and behead me. In the process of him doing that, Raul shot one last shot and finally fell the bastard. Fixing ourselves after that one was difficult. The payment in spells needed to rez us was costly, but the job was done. I went back the forest and cut off Quicksilvers head and got it shruck and preserved for my necklace. We took those four bane weapons back to the Dragonlands where they were made into a single weapon for the purpose of killing one person, Zek. We wouldn't meet up with Zek (whom we later learned was a dragon) for a while later, but when we did it was one hell of a meeting. |
