Games and Reviews for SNES

7th Saga

Actraiser: I loved the sim parts of the game where you had to help the people build. The acts were just a hack and slash portion of the game. It was kind of annoying that I had to refight all the bosses at the end.

Actraiser 2

Alcahest

Bahamut Lagoon

Battletoads

Battletoads and Double Dragon

Breath of Fire

Breath of Fire 2

Castlevania 4

Castlevania 5

Demon's Crest

Donkey Kong Country: I don't know why I played it. It hypnotized me. I'm just glad I didn't go on to play the sequal.

Dragon Quest 4

Dragon Quest 5

Dragon View

Dragonball Z Hyper Drive

Dragonball Z RPG

Drakkhen: This game was so confusing when I first played it. It was really hard to. Amazing what a little reading will do you though. Read the manual before you play this game.

Earthbound SNES: The classic SNES game that... few people have played. And it's a damn shame. This game is where Ness, in Super Smash Bros., comes from. His fame should be up there with Samus and Kirby... but not Link. Anyway, this is the story of how the ordinary boy Ness finds three friends, gains great powers, and saves the world with just a bat and yoyo. The story line is great, and the battle system is classic... but be prepared for a game that is really outside the norm. This game is also on the NES, but is slightly different with improved graphics and battle system.

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest: An abnormal FF game, but fun when you run it through the first time. It is a bit lacking in terms of storyline though. Centers itself on the importance of crystals more than anything else.

F-Zero

Illusion of Gaia: Part of a series, but due to the changes that were made to the titles as they came to the US, I don't know which series. This game is about Will and how he saves the world with his friends. If you want everything in the game get a guide, the red jewels are nearly impossible to get without one. And don't think you've done something wrong in the game and are missing out if your friends start to die off one at a time, life is just tough.

Joe and Mac

Joe and Mac 2

Lord of the Rings

Lufia: Again, a classic that few people have even heard of. Luckily it got enough attention to get several sequals to its good name. The battle system in Lufia (only the first one) can get annoying. If all your party targets one enemy, and the first person kills that enemy, all the rest will swing where it was and will miss. I guess it allows some sort of strategy, but I find it a pain in the ass. You'll find the ending to bring the game full circle and set up for Lufia 2.

Lufia 2 Rise of the Sinistrals: Improved battle system, improved graphics, improved adventure cave, and you can have little "pets" to help you fight and can raise them. It has a lot of the same story line and items (and characters for that matter) as Lufia. It takes place a few generations after Lufia with a decendant of Maxim. The games start and end is pretty identical to the first Lufia, but the game as a whole provides enough flexability for loads of entertainment.

Magic Knight Rayearth

Mario is Missing

Mega Man X: The game that got me hooked on the X games. A usual Mega Man game with the ability to upgrade if you can find all the right things.

Mega Man X2: Same as above, only more extravagant when it comes to upgrades. Includes a secret dragon punch move that comes so late in the game it doesn't matter.

Mega Man X3: This game took upgrades to a new extreme... and it's called too far. Unfortunately it may not be fair for me to say that, as the final boss was hard to beat even with all of them.

Might and Magic 2

Might and Magic 3

Ogre Battle (Chaos): The Ogre Battle series is fun to play, with patience. This one requires a bit more than the rest, and a great deal of tact to beat the later levels. Take the time to find the items. This game is also on the PS.

Secret of Evermore: A far fetched storyline, but a very interesting one. Outside the norm a lot like Earthbound. This game is a classic "a boy and his dog" game since those games are usually far-fetched anyway.

Secret of Mana: One of the first SNES games that I spend hours upon hours on. It can be played with a second player controlling one of the additonal chars to help out. It also has a nice storyline, but isn't too in depth.

Shadowrun

Sieken Destiny 3

Soul Blazer: Wee! Hack and slash and save people and magic and swords and armor and... I love this game. Great replay value and you get to talk to animals. However, you are constantly a servernt of some higher being. This aspect really comes out most at the ending.

Super Mario Kart (Mario, 150cc): The first Mario race game. Unfortunately if you are used to the 64 or GC version this one will mess you up. All the walls are on the ground and the only 3D part of the game are the other racers.

Super Mario RPG: I didn't see this one coming, and when I got it I thought it would suck. Well... a guy is allowed to be wrong. An interesting (and new to the mario series) storyline that is more than "save the princess" or "beat up Bowser." It is unfortunate though that Smithy, Geno, and the other new characters from this game arn't seen in any other Mario games. Luigi isn't in this game, I found that a bit odd. But Link is in it, even if it is a back shot and he's not moving.

Super Mario World: Have you heard of a SNES? Then you should've heard of this. If you own a SNES, you should've played it. If you haven't, sell your SNES. Bad replay value though.

Tales of Phantasia

Terranigma: You've probably never heard of it right? Well neither did I first came across it. I think it is part of the Mana series from the gameplay and the storyline. It is pretty cool how you recreate the world (after destroying it, heh... oops) up to the modern day. Reminds me a lot of Soul Blazer since you commune with animals and plants.

Zelda A Link to the Past: Link! Link! Link! Replay value of this game is awesome. Maybe I'm Zelda biased but this game is top notch. It is another game that most SNES owners have played. Any fan of the Zelda series should take the time to play this, as it goes pretty in depth about the master sword, and is one of the last Zelda games to have Ganon instead of Ganondorf as the enemy (I know they are one in the same but... it's just different).

Zombies Ate My Neighbors: Also known as the game that will eat your brains causing you to play it over and over with your next door neighbor, even if you've beaten it several times. This game is most fun with a partner, just don't get in a fight over items or going different directions.
