| Dark Age Enemies 2 Cain: Arch Avatar of Exsequi; Demigod of Chaos Very little is known about Cain. He follows the will of Exsequi, wields the Sword of Hell, and is in constant struggle with the Arch Avatar of Helig, Abel. He was found by the party in back of a temple of Boccob in a cave like room hanging from the ceiling. They had no idea what they were doing when they cut him down. Cain is the one to describe about how Exsequi in the past brought the dwarven city of Rockwren (just north of Kvigmar under the mountains) to a state of ruin, and he tells how it will happen again. Later, Abel arrived in the area and the party led him to Cain. In a battle that split not only the very ground but the party as well, Abel defeated Cain and he was sent back to where Exsequi lie in wait to recover. He is enemy to only those who stand in his way, but the party led Abel to him so he considers the party a threat. When Exsequi obtained enough followers Cain was brought back and is now the commander for the Hag's army and is slowing dominating Cerilia. Abel: Arch Avatar of Helig; Demigod of Law Even less is known about Abel. He is silent most of the time, only doing what he is told by Helig and keeping order in a world of chaos. He wields the Sword of Heaven, which protects him from the death effects of Cain. He tells the party that the Order of Helig that they have come to hate on Cerilia is not the true Order of Helig, but merely a ruse by an outsider or, perhaps worse, Exsequi. After defeating Cain in Rockwren he dispurses to find more of the Shrines of Exsequi. The party had led him to Cain, but a few members attacked him during the battle. He considers the party a neutral faction and hopes that they can be swayed. He watches over and wait for reports from the Helig followers of the party. He constantly seeks out Cain in hopes of freeing the people under Exsequi. As Exsequi's followers were on the rise and Helig's on the fall, Abel fell ill after a small run in with Cain on the peaks near the Hag. He was recovering in Blackgate and gave the party a few items to aid them in sealing their past enemies who keep coming back. While being duped by Omniscent, the party returned and sealed Abel's soul in a porcite sword in hopes that it would prevent Xalfen from winning. Exsequi: God of Chaos; Creator of the Lower Half One of two of the creator gods. His avatars have spread chaos leading most to understand the Exsequi is the God of Chaos. If he had things his way the Material Plane would not even exist. He calls back souls from beyond to attempt to sway or kill the party in return for their past actions toward him. He is in constant search of the Bloodstone, but it is unknown as to why. He is also seeking to destroy the other gods. The first to suffer was the god of travelling and roads, Fharlanghn. Exsequi was the last of the two gods to be absorbed by Omniscient. Helig: God of Law; Creator of the Upper Half One of two of the creator gods. His avatars have prevented Exsequi's avatars from destroying parts of the world various times. They keep order where ever they go. Chaos comes in strong waves and it is often hard for Helig to deal with it. Anyone standing in the way of law will be pushed aside by any means, he has no time to negotiate. Helig was the first of the two gods to be taken prisoner in the porcite sword for Omniscient's ideals. Omniscient: (Samurai/Summoner) From a tale told by an old man, it is understood that Omniscient is the neutral force between the war of Helig and Exsequi. Omniscient was the one responsible for leaving Cain helpless in the temple of Boccob, hoping that he would remain there for all eternity. He wears dark blue and black robs while wielding a long thin blade on his back. He is the only mortal to stand up to an avatar and live. The only thing known about him for certain is his name. He works toward keeping neutrality number one and tries not to affilate himself with anyone. He has not shown any aggresion toward the party, but leaning too far in one god's direction could change all that. It soon came to light that the enemy responsible for the two gods was a man named Xalfen, and was once Omniscients mentor. A slight disagreement cause the two to part and battle. Omniscient's fight was not for law, good, or even balance, but to split the world into Good and Evil, rather than the Law and Chaos Xalfen had caused. Lord Barthalemew: Blackguard Sworn enemy of Lord Haval ever since the Wiergau War. He was the commander of the invading undead force and was killed in the front line by Haval himself. However, Haval is the only one in Blackgate who believes that Barthalemew is still alive. Haval was right and he returned as a powerful undead being. He poisoned Haval, stole the mayor's daugther, and planned a seige on Blackgate. With the aid of every person in town, the party thwarted his plans. Priot: Undead An undead leecher who snuck into the lair of the phoenix with Zek. He absorbs dead bodies and uses the pieces to regenerate his own when he looses a limb. He escaped the lair and robbed the empty cities before the party could catch him. The party later stumbled across him in Greugarten when they found the city slaughtered. His theft of all the magic items was not of greed, but for power. His ability to drain the energies of items had made him extremely powerful. He had gained the ability to shapeshift, regenerate incredebly fast, and change his body type. The party attempted to kill him, but he drained their items as they used them and they were forced to retreat. During Priot's attack on the samurai village of the east, Omniscient sealed his own soul into a soul sword knowing Priot would take the sword and allow Omni's soul to be absorbed into Priot. Omni's plan was successful and he took over Priot's powerful body. Rathe and Ricon: Ranger and Bard Crym's murderers and Ark's henchmen from 500 years ago. Died of old age. Intin: Ranger Son of Rathe. He carries with him his families prized possession: the silver musket. It is capable of doing massive damage with the magical bullets that Intin makes himself. Worked for his father's boss Ark until Ark was slain. Ran away once he found out that Lethar had come out of stasis. Cyilla: Bard Grand-daughter of Ricon. Extremely flirtacous and sly... but only for her own goals. She carries with her the heirloom and lecacy of her family: the Adamantine Harp and the Sonic Requiem. Playing this special song on this particually magical harp can stun an enemy for several rounds. Worked for Ark until he was slain and then ran away with Intin. Ark: Psion A dwarf of extremely old age. He allowed his greed to get the better of him and, along with his hatred for elves, he took over the village of Vargran without them knowing and used them while in a trancelike state to farm metal to craft his items to sell to other countries. He planned the murder of Crym when he was running for mayor so he wouldn't loose his control of the village and erased his memory. When Crym returned and started to regain his memory, he and the party tracked Ark down and killed him. Lethar: Unknown Minion of Ark. Completely insane and deftly leathal. He was kept in stasis by Ark, so when Ark was slain Lethar was let free. He became freaked out when he saw Crym (a man he believed he had killed) and ran away. Kez: Half-Dragon A spawn of Zek. Using a great deal of his dragon blood (even though he is in a gnome body, dragon blood still courses through him) and a superior amount of necromancy, he brought Kez to life using his right arm and parts of his face. Zek had no problem rebuilding metal parts for his gnome body because he despises being a gnome. Kez himself is extremely loyal to Zek. He is not tied for linked to Zek in any forceful matter, he chose to remain by his side of his own free will. He thanks Zek for giving him life and it is unknown where his soul was conjured from. Kez is only half-dragon, and the other half is some humanoid, presumably elf from the bodies in the desecrated Temple of the Phoenix. Kez has four arms and is martially skilled and can use all of his arms with equal strength. He later pleaded with the party to sever his tie to Zek (the mechanical parts on Zek's face) so that he may be free of his control. After a heated battle with the controlled Kez and Zek, they succeeded, but Zek took Kez with him when he went to see the The One, and Kez's well being is in question. Xalfen: (Summoner/Samurai) A man who fights for his ideals... without mercy. Once Omniscient and he parted, since he had made the split the way he wanted, he seated himself on a throne of power, hidden from all. His powers were near boundless, until his former apprentace took him by suprise and took his life. |
