| I have been involved in the criminal justice field since March of 2000. I began my criminal justice career in Corrections working part-time for the Cloud County, KS Sheriff's Department. While continuing my education at Cloud County Community College, I accepted a full-time Corrections Officer position in Republic County, KS in January of 2001. I finished my education at Cloud County Community College and continued as a distance student at Washburn University. In April 2002, I was transferred to a Sheriff's Deputy position for Republic County, performing patrol and basic investigative functions. In August of 2002, I attended the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center and graduated, second in class, in October 2002. After graduation, I was soon promoted to Assistant Investigator for the Republic County Sheriff's Department, performing investigative and supervisory functions. I investigated all types of crimes, including Drug Crimes, Burglary, Theft, Person Crimes, Aggravated Person Crimes, Sex Crimes, Juvenile Crimes, Traffic and many other crimes. Supervisory and administrative functions included, Supervisor to Patrol Deputies, Fleet Equipment Management, Department Computer Administrator, Records Custodian for Breath Alcohol Program, Successful writer of Federally Funded Block Grant for Officer Safety Equipment, Assisted in Development and Implementation of department policies and procedures to enhance productivity, efficiency, and professionalism. I worked as the Assistant Investigator until making the decision to come back to Smith County to campaign to become your Sheriff. |
