v. Old Queens head

The Leopards, wearing their unfamiliar undertaker kit, began the game
defending the Brick Wall Stands.  With Paddy, Mark and Ben cutting out the
through balls and dealing with most everything in the air, the Old Queen's
Head had trouble mounting a sustained attack.  Midway through the first half
the Leopards' midfield began to assert itself and it looked like a goal was
imminent.  The first chance came from a corner kick.  Sam eluded his marker
and put a header just wide. The best chance of the first half came moments
later from a wicked free kick from Nick.  Somehow, the opposing goalie
heaved himself across the goal to concede a corner. Old Queen's Head's only
answer to the pressure was a swift kick to Paddy's back that forced him
from the game.  And they scored a crap goal from a throw in.

Spirit was high as the whistle sounded to start the second half.
Unfortunately, things went downhill from there.  The Leopards struggled to
put together a sustained attack. Richard, in goal, was
catching/punching/pushing wide all the shots that came his way.  Then Old
Queen's Head managed to score two more goals.  The goals weren't against the
flow of the game but they were not deserved.  The Leopards best chance in
the second half came off a scramble in the penalty area.  VDA pounced on the
bouncing ball only to watch his shot come back from the underside of the
cross bar.

The final whistle sounded leaving the Leopards to wonder what might have
been had they converted an early chance.
