N. VandenArend: In previous years this young man, known affectionately in some cases as, bush-head, has received rather a monosyllabic report. This has been based on my view if you cant say something good about them, you shouldnt say anything, yet, after many hours of racking my brain, Ive finally found something. He is fantastic at free-kicks. Not in the Beckham or attacking sense, instead I mean when defending them. Im convinced that this mainstay of the free-kick wall gives the leopards an extra 20%. The unending mass of hair stretching outwards would even have Rivaldo quacking in is boots. How on earth are you meant to get the ball over the wall and then down? With sprightly if not electrically paced Nick there, just the over bit is a mammoth challenge. General comment: Same as last year, and the year before that, as so on. Mark: C- Player most like: A permed Gianluca Vialli.
A. Stevenson: This year Alexander has played an enormity of the games, has anyone noticed? Mark: C Player most like: In attempting to answer this question, I tried to think of the most innocuous player in the premiership, yet plays almost every game, enter Marcus Hall.
O. Swayne: The club physician has had a great year. I particularly admired the handling of the magic sponge in the Fowlers game, and the ingenuity of pouring a whole bottle of water over Eds boot rather than foot. On the footballing front, I feel it to have been a solid if not unremarkable season. Long penetrating runs down the left are not to be found too often, but defensively he has been extremely tight, even seeing fit to knock the ball off the line with his foot rather than his hand this season. (For those who werent there, it also took a little trip via his bottom). General comment: Following his cruel rejection from Popstars in the late rounds, he has proved something not often associated with this man, an asset. Mark: C+ Player most like: ? (you try)
J. Cassy: It all started so promisingly for JC this season, but a brace against Coddenham was followed by a season plagued by, what has come to be known as, fennsmithism, downright mediocrity bordering on the crap. His play has been rather like beauty and the beast, yet with no beauty. Like Laurel and Hardy, yet with no Hardy. His finishing remains good, his pace, consistent, yet his passing and control would certainly benefit from some work. His match report does remain the standard by which everyone else is judged however. General comment: Could and should do a lot better. Mark: D+ Player most like: David Ginola (without the looks or skill)
P. Inglis: This year the skipper has had to deal with the release of Hannibal and all the subsequent publicity surrounding the club, players not turning up for matches, attempting to tell two of the original master minders behind the leopards that they are to be replaced by younger and better blood, and I think hes done a pretty damn good job. His goal-keeping ability has improved 10 fold, yet what of his striking. It looked terrible to me, nevertheless, by all accounts that to has improved 10 fold. His defending remains in good order, but please please stay there! General comment: Superb season off the field, but only a good season on it. Mark: A (down on last year) Player most like: Tony Mowbray (also without the looks) |
