I used a DK weight acrylic yarn. size 7 needles Gauge 6 st and 8 rows to 1 inch in garter st Cast on 18 stitches knit first row through the back loop so the stitches are twisted knit evey row for 38 rows bind off sew side seams you can add decorative ribbon as a drawstring if you like. |
| Gauge 6 st and 8 rows to 1 inch finished size 6x6 1/2 inches closed needle 7 yarn dk Cast on 40 stitches row 1 and all odd rows p k p k6 place marker k 6 place marker k 9 place marker k 6 place marker knit to last 3 p k p row 2 and all even rows p k to last 2 k p row 5 and every 4th row pkp after 1st marker hold 1st 3 st in back knit next 3 k to 3rd marker hold 1st 3 st in front knit next 3 st k to last 3 st p k p continuing in cable pattern untill row 87 row 85 p k p decrease 1 knit to last 5 st decrease 1 p k p continue decreasing by 1 on each end every row untll 1 st remain. crochet a chain st to required length for button mine was 8 sew side seams together. i lined mine with fabric and used my third row as my guide for the seams strap cast on 5 row 1 and odd kpkpk row 2 and even pkpkp continue untill desired length sew on at start of decrease for flap. |
