Since his early childhood, he has displayed love for music and started singing and composing his own songs at the tender age of 6. In 1972 Leon Dimanche formed his own band "Lionceaux Des Cayes". In 1973 Leon Dimanche was so popular that when he came to perform in Cine Lido he could not get inside because of walls and walls of his fans. He was lifted up and passed hands to hands overhead from the entrance to the stage. Leon Dimanche was named as the singer of the year in 1973. That same year Leon Dimanche recorded his first solo album (Va-t-en, Nostalgie). Since then Leon Dimanche has recorded 15 albums. He has composed his own songs both in French and Creole. Among his memorable songs are Nostalgie, Agoe, Savannah (commemorating Haitians fighting for America's independence). In 1996 Leon Dimanche released a new album called Ayiti (Creole for Haiti) with new songs "Aujourd'hui devant Dieu" (Today, before God-a wedding song) "Ayiti" (Haiti) and" Le ya rive" (The Time Has Arrived). "Aujourd'hui devant Dieu" glorifies the sanctity of marriage, love and eternal union of two people. Leon in "Ayiti" sings about beauty and love for his motherland. In "The Time Has Arrived" Leon stresses importance of roots and patriotism and tradition among young Haitians. In 1996-97 Leon Dimanche produced a music video based on "Today, Before God". Since 1996 Leon Dimanche has embarked on a mission to help and educate young and aspiring Haitian singers. His students are Carmelle Grandfort , Jean-Claude Jean and many others.
In 1997 he was nominated and received award for the best soft-rock album in the Second Haitian Music Awards. In 1998 he has received several television awards for his wedding song video "Aujourd'hui devant Dieu".
