easter2pools03.jpg (326348 bytes) The Two Ponds:

The cloud with the sunlight streaming out of it is reflected in the top pool. The lower pool reflects a second cloud. God dwells in the cloud, so the light coming out of the cloud represents God coming into the world.

The earth is moist and ready for seeds to be planted. Now that Jesus has been resurrected people's hearts are getting softer, like the dirt, ready to receive the word of God (the seed).

Living green things are showing coming out of the earth and so are some lily-of-the-valley type flowers. Lilies indicate that death was involved: this refers to Jesus' death on the cross. New life is represented by the new grass and flowers: the new life is that which Jesus has proven we have, now that he rose up from the dead.

easterheartbubbles03.jpg (310259 bytes) Heart-shaped bubbles:

The bubbles keep on coming, giving joy to the other person. The bubbles represent how precious and beautiful God's love is. We should treat God with reverence because His love is given so freely and at so much cost to Himself (besides the fact that He wants us to, etc).

The greenery and flowers represent the new life we have in Jesus. They are so colourful to represent how wonderful life is with Jesus.

(The guys look like muppets cos I thought they'd look cuter.)

easter3crosses03.jpg (188048 bytes) The Three Crosses:

This picture shows something of how real it was for Jesus to have actually lived and died in our world. The daylight still came up after the darkness of Good Friday, shining on the starkness and beauty of the cross, making the truth of his death sink in.

I like it how Jesus shared his death with two other people.

Three days later, though, the darkness of his death was dispelled by his resurrection.
eastercherry03.jpg (188439 bytes) The Cherry:

This picture collects some of the articles that had some significance at the time of Jesus' journey to Jerusalem and his death.

The dove represents the Holy Spirit that alighted on Jesus when he was baptised. The leaves represent the palm branches that the crowds in Jerusalem laid down for Jesus to ride over (on the donkey) when he entered Jerusalem like a king. The cup and the bread represent the last supper Jesus had with his 12 disciples, when he started the institution of communion. The drop of perspiration that looks like blood represents Jesus' agony in the garden of Gethsemane when he prayed for the Father to take away the cup of death from him. The cherry and the cupcake with the cherry on top don't mean anything, I just felt hungry at the time of drawing the picture.

easterjesusthorns03.jpg (384159 bytes) Thorns and Robe:

This picture shows Jesus at the time of scourging when he was arrayed with the crown of thorns and the purple robe by Roman soldiers who were mocking his claim to be a king. I tried to show that he must have been exhausted by this stage, leading up to his crucifixion.

The purple and black decoration shows Jesus is glorified in his humility. He really is the King, and his awesomeness can't be crushed by the darkness of sin all around him.
easterchicken03.jpg (222332 bytes) Chicken/Sun:

The chickens are a reference to the easter egg. The chickens are quite dumb and show that the commercialised part of easter shows a lack of understanding. However the sun shines over even this ignorance. The sun represents the rising of Jesus and how even though his resurrection was so obvious, we stupid people can't see what's really going on without God revealing it to us. God shines the truth of Jesus' resurrection and its correct meaning of mercy onto us.

(I like the pink clouds and the orange and yellow colours in this picture.)

eastercloud03.jpg (230460 bytes) The rain cloud:

The rain that comes from the cloud (wherein God dwells) is the living water that Jesus gave to us. The flower is red, signifying the grace of God. I call it the 'Grace Flower'. It grows in the world, amongst us dirty people. But we are washed clean and refreshed by the water of life that Christ gives...so we're not dirty anymore, we're green and fresh and beautiful.
eastercross03.jpg (158230 bytes) The cross:

This shows that we rejected Jesus by crucifying him outside of Jerusalem. But he was still lifted up, and his truth is believed by many who have seen him. This is hope, indicated by the greenness of the surrounding landscape.
eastejesuschild03.jpg (147242 bytes) Jesus holding a child in his heart:

This shows God's compassion for us. He knows us so well and holds us so closely to him we are like the blood in his veins.

This is my favourite picture on this page.
cloud_clean_heart_blood_colour.jpg (543504 bytes) Grace:
