THE BASICS!

If you dont get the basics write, your reader is going to switch OFF!!!

Heres a quick glosary of all the terms you need to get you started!

Hyperlinks

Based on the science fiction concept of cross dimensional linkages covering millions of light years in 'hyper-space", a hyper link is a thing that points to another thing or page. it can also be an image.

 

"HTML"!

geek-speak for hyper-text markup languge. This is a langage that web gurus use for writing web pages. hyper text is the language that computers speak when their on the internet. It is defined by the "html users group" or something, who's web page is at wc3 something a rather. Tim Berners-Lee invented it. He should get his own coin or somethign.

 

HITS!

the number of hits you get is the number of times people have visited your page! (see also, web counters)

 

WEB COUNTERS!

These things are WAY tacky and shwo the reader that you don't expect to ever get any HITS! (see also, HITS!)

 

URL!

Geek-speak for 'internet address' - stands for 'Universe Resource Locator"

 

UPLOAD versus DOWNLOAD!

when you SURF the net you are *downloading* pages off the internet. When you CREATE a page for other people to surf to, you must first *upload* the page to the internet! SIMPEL!
