Millionaire Drew Latham (Ben Affleck) once again finds himself alone at Christmas. On the advise of his ex-girlfriend/s psychiatrist, he decides to go back to his childhood home. Unfortunately, the family who lives there now isn't his.
Desperate to have a Christmas like the ones he remembers, Drew offers the Valcos a huge sum of money to let him spend the holidays with them. Of course, they have to do all the traditional things that Drew remembers whether they want to or not.
Drew soon finds out that this family isn't all it appears to be. Mr. & Mrs. Valco are thinking about divorcing and their son spends all of his time in his bedroom searching for porn on his computer. The only normal person in the whole mix is daughter Alicia (Christina Applegate.) who ends up falling in love with the annoying stranger who has purchased her family.
Some funny stuff but not enough to replace National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation as my favourite holiday send-up. There's a rumour that the script for this was not complete and it shows. It also confirms my suspicions that Ben Affleck can't act. |
