Rescue Diver Overview The PADI Rescue Diver Course is designed to give divers who have completed the Advanced program the skills to help other divers in need and to prevent accidents from occurring. The course depends upon class size, logistical considerations, student aptitude and performance. Course structure 5 Academic sessions:
5 Openwater sessions
The course is designed with an average time frame and format which, under normal circumstances, will be taught in a total time of 25 hours. The Rescue Diver course is designed to give you the confidence to handle any emergency situation and, more importantly, to prevent such a situation arising. You do not have to be a super fit hero to participate. The aim of the course is to bring out the best in each individual, yet work as an effective team.
Course standards The PADI Rescue Diver Course is an important and crucial step in expanding your knowledge and experience beyond a purely recreational level. The PADI Rescue course is a prerequisite for all PADI leadership training, i.e.: Divemaster, Assistant Instructor. The course is demanding, though realistic in its conduct, content and approach. Interaction, discussion, variety and flexibility are stressed during skill training. Classroom instruction will stress the application of the information to the needs of students and varying environments Through this course you will come to appreciate and understand the importance such training has on the safety of others and on the diving industry as a whole. Although the course is designed to be enjoyable, the nature and context in which such training may be used is quite serious, and as in the training in similar fields of emergency care, the primary objection of this course is to prevent the need for use of rescue skills.
