| Our Memories of Leo | |||||||||||
| It's hard to think of just one special moment I've had with Leo - there have been many. From little things like enjoying riding in his little red truck when we lived in Harvey, LA and going over big bumps and he'd say "wheee" or drawing his famous silly guy face that I could never duplicate, or challenging me to name all 50 states and giving my money if I could (never did...I always forgot one state). To more serious and meaningful moments, like when I asked him to walk me down the wedding aisle, watching him hold his first granddaughter, and always being there for me..whether it was him coming to the rescue when I was in a car accident, helping me with a term paper, or just hanging out in our pool talking about his younger days and my goals. He was the man I put on a pedestal my whole life, the man I thought was a genius, and the man that was a father to me. I respect him for treating me like his daughter, taking on a role of that magnitude when he could have just stood on the sidelines and be a 'stepdad.' He mastered the role of being a father and friend. In all the years I knew him, he treated me with respect and my goal growing up was to make him proud. In his last weeks alive, he let me know that I had reached my goal. 07.11.03 Leo's daughter, Stacey Wilkinson |
