Hinduism is in actual truth a spiritual path for a true devotee, and less of a religion. It is a system of learning, developing, and gaining a loving feeling for God. So how is this done? How do we develop a Consciousness of Divine Love? We first begin by reguarding God as our Personal Friend, our Divine Beloved, and the most attractive Divine Presence imaginable.
Over 5000 years ago in India, our Beloved Krishna Decended onto Earth. We can easily understand that Krishna was God. Krishna says in the "Bhagavad Gita." "Whenever spiritual law declines and the purpose of life is forgotten, I manifest myself on Earth. I am born in every age to protect the good, to destroy evil, and to re-establish law." So you can see that God has made a clear statement that He manifests himself on Earth age after age, taking different forms to suit his purpose.
When Krishna decended He appeared in Mathura with many of His great Saints and disciples. They were all born into human bodies, and grew up togather. Every living creature including the grass, trees, insects, and flowers were Divine decensions, so the entire presence of Krishna within India was Divine and beyond material. Krishna had beautiful, radiant blue skin; the color of the spiritual sky, blue is a color that invokes comfort and peace. He was beyond beauty, His hair was dark like the night sky and was the softest material on Earth. His eyes were bright and invoked loving devtion from thoes who peered within them. He also enjoyed playing the flute and often intranced His listeners with His playing.
Krishna grew up just like a regular child. Krishna was God and possesed the greatest Wisdom of any child. He was the Supreme Personality and Ruler of all creation. He often played with his cowheard boyfriends while grazing the cattle. There are hundreds and hundreds of beautiful and playfull stories of Krishna called Leelas. When you read them, one is filled with such happiness and joy to hear of our Lord dancing and singing and playing as a child. To hear that God is playfull, fun, and beautiful. This teaches us how to approach God. To see that God is loving, and playfull with His Devotees. Those who truly love and serve God, receive this abundance of joy, and experience our Lord as amazingly gracious, exciting, and playfull. Because God's true form and grace is of Divine Bliss. God enjoyed the Earth and all it's magnificient glory only for our benefit, for our enjoyment, To truly love God we must become the Child and long to enjoy that same playfullness and happiness with our Lord.
When God Krishna decended to Earth He appeared in His true form of His Supreme Personality. He (Krishna) was the most blissfull, beautiful form ever upon this planet, sparkling like the clearest lake, radiating the most intoxicating Divine presence the world has ever known. Everyone near Him was captivated by His beauty and recognized him as Godhead incarnate. No one could deny the power of God's ultimate beauty, wisdom, kindness, and enchantment, because God appeared with all His glorious Divine attributes. Even when Krishna would walk upon the ground, the blades of grass and flowers would slowly dance back and forth because His presence was so intoxicating. So Divine, and so powerfull. The animals were in constant awe of Him and were dear to Him as He were there own. That is the power that God's true form has in our lives. It gives us such a longing for His sweetness, we want so badley to see a vision of Him, to smell the aroma of His Lotus feet, to be absorbed in loving thoughts of Him always, because nothing else is as perfect.
When a true devotee longs for God, all meditation is focused on God. One doesn't need to see God as Krishna exactley, but as the most beautiful and loving form that appeals to them. That is what "Krishna" means, the most attractive and loving form imaginable. Then they loose all interest in mundane objects and a deep desire to be with God develops. When a devotee meditates on the Supreme Personality of Godhead. We see ourselves dancing with Krishna, swinging in Divine Gardens, showering Him with flowers as He smiles at us and embraces us. We become like children, playing and running and being silly togather. Absorbed in the moment, completely wrapped in attention to God. We remember the loving Leelas and His Divine presence in this world, we feel His intoxicating love and ultimate Divine grace pouring out of every sweet loving thought of Him and the simple memory of His Lotus face, causes us to fall into a heavenly trance and state of bliss. We begin to understand that God's Divine Supreme personality is that of our most Beloved Friend. No other could make our life so complete.
Hindu's practice a supremely sweet form of devotion, the Chanting of Divine Names and Leelas. Beautiful musical instruments such as Sitar's, Tablas, Harmoniums, bells, harps, and flutes are combined in a glorious balance and devotees sing and chant the Divine Names of God in a beautiful and peacefull harmonius manner. The Divine names are transcendental and carry a vibration of Utmost love. Chanted in the ancient language of Sanskrit, which is the oldest language in the world and is a Divine language that our Lord taught the great Brahmans and Saints at the Beginning of our Earth planet. So these Divine names and Leelas are sang in a Divine language which elevates a devotees heart by pure Divine means. These Divine names produce a magical effect on the mind and heart of the devotee and enter them into a state of Loving Divine Bliss.
Leelas are songs that describe God's ultimate beauty, love and pastimes. These two are sung or chanted and these Divine words stick in our minds and begin to change us instantly. When I first began chanting the Divine Names I was amazed at the amount of peace and spiritual strength I gathered from them. We all want to keep our attention focused toward God, and chanting is the best way to do it. The regular practice of singing and chanting Divine names, awakens the mind and brings our consciousness closer and closer to God. It is truely the most effective way to elevate ones Devotional attitude and fill the mind and heart with thoughts of our Beloved. |
