Pleiades is an open cluster of stars that is roughly 400 light years from Earth.  The Nebula that you see is a cloud of interstellar dust that the cluster is currently traveling through.  The dust filters the red light from the stars and gives the stars and the nebula their blue appearance.  This autoguided image was captured 10/24/2006 with a modified Canon 300D through an Orion 80ED refractor on an Orion Atlas mount.  Total exposure time was 58 minutes at ISO 800.
