The Crab Nebula is the remnant of a supernova within our own galaxy that was observed in 1054 A.D.  Chinese astronomers noted the supernova as a "guest star" which was visible in the daytime sky for 23 days and appeared four times brighter than Venus.  This is also the first object to be added to Charles Messier's famous list and is therefore designated  M1.  This image was captured 10/28/2006 with an Orion 80ED refractor and the modified 300D camera.  Total exposure time of 42 minutes at ISO 800.  This object is a little too small to get good results with my relatively wide field refractor, I will re-attempt this with my reflector as soon as the moon and clouds allow.
