Transformation from CD Rom drive to CD Transport
As I stated before, NEC 4X is using switching power in which  a very high frequency noise will contaminate the digital signal (the spike in  high frequency range). So, changing the power supply is the must.
However, the external case is too small for this  modification. So, I decided to make a major surgery on this CD ROM, dissembling  the whole thing and transforming it to a top loaded CD transport.
It is a transport and is made of die-cast aluminum block;  The movement of the laser head is controlled by the electro-magnetic method.
Please leave the springs and shock absorbent for later  use.
This is a main PCB board.; The 12V DC will be regulated to 5V.  Some capacitors will be changed in this  section.
This is a spindle motor control board. ;The cord may need to be extended  for the connection.
It can work like  this??.and it is a Barebone top-loaded CD player.!
I am using a top of the small  aluminum case as the base of this transport.. The case will be a cover of the power supply.
Please make sure the CG (center of gravity ) is in the center  of the plate.
Drill a bigger hole on the base plate and insert the  long screws  and spring and rubber bumper as the picture shown. Make sure the whole thing is suspending  without any restriction on movement.
Simulation picture!  This is a semi final product.
Remove the LCD carefully and using a rainbow cable reconnect it.
It is a power supply for  the CD Player
The power of this CD Rom is
12V 1A, 5V 1A
I am using 317K for 12V supply and 7805 for the 5V supply
The PCB is covered by a unused PCB board with similar  size.
The case is then covered by the 4mm thick acrylic  plastic.. Look cool?
The aluminum case is used as a cover of this power  supply.. The PCB board is then  mounted on the other side of the case.   The remote control unit is located just under the transport.  Here is the out look of the finished  product.
The photo shows the Digital output of the unmodified circuit.  I add a RS422 interferece to the output and make the wave form become this. It is a true balanced output. (Sorry for the poor osc that I cant syn the pattern well.)
The signal firstly goes through the 74xx04 for the resharping and then goes to the standard RS422 chip (you can use any RS422 or RS485 standard chip)
1.  Short the connection between the micro switchs
2.  Earthling! Very important! Link the transport, the plate, the PCB and the case in one point
3.  Due to the inherent startup procedure (in Rom), this cd play should be restarted for each time when a new CD is playing
4.  Cover the shiny plate with a sheet of black cloth or pape
