Gunpowder is a very simple compund to make. It is a mixture of Charcoal sulfer and Potassium Nitrate (KNO3). Saltpeter can also be used as a substitute for KNO3.
The typical mixture is 74.64% KNO3,
11.85% sulfer and 13.51% charcoal.
The average ratio is:
2 parts sulfer
3 parts charcoal
15 parts KNO
3
This mixture is the Black Powder type of gunpowder. There are 2 types of gunpowder: Black Powder, and Smokeless Powder. Black powder is most common.
