Gunpowder was invented by the Chinese in the 8th century A.D. They discovered that by mixing sulfer, charcoal and potassium nitrate, this mixture created a very explosive and colorful reaction. |

Gundpowder changed the world in both positive and negitive ways. In a positive way, it has its use as fireworks that have always been an enjoyable spectacle. Since the 8th century we have been using fireworks to set off colorful explosions in the sky to celebrate holidays and special occasions. Also for the use in munitions for firearms to be use for hunting our food and for personal defense. As for the negitive aspect, we have war. Gunpowder being used to make weapons like the atom bomb used for killing human beings and high powered automatic weapons used to gun down people during wartime battles. |
