| Chapter II: The Federation (Page 1) The sun rose lonely in the dusty air of the Tahrongi Canyon dawn. Ariwen, the mithra whom carried Leocon piggy-back style, jogged her way past the enormous Dhalmel, and drousy Yagudo. By about mid-morning they reached the connecting point of the canyon and savana that is Sarutabaruta. Now cradling a sleeping elvaan, she again slipped past all the stationed Yagudo and Goblins with her mithran stealth. Running west, she was soon met by an old friend of hers at Zanbibi River. A Hume paladin, with long blonde hair, and doning gleeming white armor, much like the armor of the knights in San d'Oria only a few days ago, waved his hand high in the distance as Ariwen returned the wave. "Who do we have here?" Asked the Hume. "... I found him in Ronfaure as I departed the kingdom..." Ariwen solmnly ansers. "I hope YOU intend on caring for him? My wife and I can't afford another mouth to feed." "Of course, of course..." "So do you know who his parents are...or from what I would guess...were?" Ariwen looked into the Humes eyes, and looked away, whispering two names. "...I see... Is the kingdom really so corrupt that they would even exile a young child for the beastmen to prey on!?" "I do not know..." Sighed Ariwen, "Come, let's hurry to Windurst... I grow tired, I'm ready for a bath, and Leocon hasn't eaten a substantial meal for two days now." "Yes yes, let's go." The Hume led the mithra, still carrying a sleeping Leocon, south, following the river to Windurst. A few weeks passed, in which time Ariwen and Leocon both grew accoustomed to the new sights, sounds, and smells of Windurst. Constuction was still common in every section of the city, having been nearly destroyed in the Great War. Ariwen set up home in the Waters District, near the home of her paladin friend. After getting aquainted with the widly spread out city, she set out on the craft handed down in her family - clothcrafting. Leocon was enrolled into the School of Magic, with support by the paladin who was like a father to him. It was here that Leocon made friends with the natives. Two mithra, one taru boy, two taru girls, and two girl humes were in the same class as Leocon, and they all got along fine. Then, one night three years later, something began to happen between Leocon and one of the mithra from his class... The two were walking home from school together, by request of Trility, the mithran child. Her untamed white hair glowed faintly in the cresent icemoon, as she smiled. Leocon took no notice to the special treatment the girl showed him, perhaps due to the lack of puberty on his part, being only seven. The lakes of Windurst Waters were calm that night, no weather graced the Sarutabaruta region. Light blue and pink lillys skimmed across the surface as the moons reflection iluminated the path for the children. "Leo..." Began Trility. "Yeah?" "Leo... Do you think I look cute?" Leocon paused on this question, but with a smile, answered her. "Yeah, I guess you are kinda cute." Trility giggled at this reply. "How cute would you say I am?" To this question, Leocon put some thought. "I don't know, I guess as cute as a rarab." Trility squeed, being a fan of the furry creaturs, finding them highly adorable. "Hey Leo, guess what..." "What?" "I think you're handsome..." "'Handsome'? What's that?" Trility paused for a bit, and with a sigh, answered him. "I think you're cute too, but people don't say cute to guys, they say handsome." "Oh." "'Oh'? 'Oh'!? That's all you have to say?" "Well, what am I supposed to say?" Asked Leocon as he stopped in his tracks. Trility stamped the ground frustrated, and told Leocon to nevermind. The two of them walked up Trility's steps, and stopping at the front door, they said goodbye to each other. But before Trility steped inside, she leaned forward and kissed Leocon on the cheek, giggling some more. "You'll learn someday, Leo..." She said, and dispeared into the wooden house. Leocon stared forward for a bit, and began rubbing his sheek lightly, with one thought wipping the 'cooties' off, and another thought of confusion. "Turn to Page Two" Back to "Leocon's Logs" |
