Burori's Profile

The Basics

Name: Burori

Race: Pureblood Saiya-jin

Birthplace: Planet Vegeta

Age: Approximately 30 at the time of Movie 8

The Many Forms

Normal Saiya-jin

Height: 6'8

Hair: Long black hair, tied back

Eyes: Dark brown

Ki Signature: Faint, no obvious coloration

Important Notes: In his ground state, Burori is a calm, polite man, almost to the point of being sedate. He speaks softly, and respectfully defers to his elders. He is only found in this form after suffering severe damage or being controlled by his father's mind control device.

Fighting Style: None

Powered-Up Saiya-jin

Height: 6'8

Hair: Long black hair, tied back

Eyes: Dark brown

Ki Signature: Variable strength with recognizable resonance, purple emanations when gathering energy.

Important Notes: This is most often seen as a transition phase for Burori, although in several flashback scenes it is implied that he may assume this form when fighting an extremely weak enemy or when not threatened. Unlike his other forms, in this form Burori has an incredibly focused mind, and it seems he is either unable or unwilling to deviate from his accepted thought patterns.

Fighting Style: Burori's fighting style when powered up as a regular Saiya-jin is colored by the single-mindedness he exhibits at this stage. He shows no preference to strikes or grapples, only caring to close with his enemies as quickly as possible. He uses long-rage attacks primarily to flush out prey rather than to engage from a distance. Burori employs two different ki attacks in this form: a rapid spray of small, bullet like ki balls and a single, more powerful explosive blast. In this form he first exhibits his incredible pain tolerance, though a particularly powerful or surprising attack can jar him from his attack pattern.

Super Saiya-jin

Height: 6'8

Hair: Light blonde, standing on end.

Eyes: Light green

Ki Signature: Powerful, with light green emanations when powering up

Important Notes: Burori seems to use the Super Saiya-jin form when too badly injured or has doesn't have enough energy to make the full transition to Ultimate Super Saiya-jin form. When Super Saiya-jin, Burori still shows signs of the single-mindedness of his powered-up normal Saiya-jin form, but also displays moments of careful thought, curiosity, and wit. Burori only stays in this form when he requires a large amount of energy to defeat a foe but does not feel the battle is urgent enough to warrant a full transformation.

Fighting Style: When Super Saiya-jin, Burori shows a marked preference towards strikes over grapples. He uses long range attacks to a much more calculated effect, and has shown great innovation in using such attacks to lure opponents into striking range or throw them off balance. His high pain threshold allows him to execute more complicated striking maneuvers with little risk. Burori only uses the single ki ball attack in this form, but his superior maneuverability and strength make this form vastly more deadly than normal Saiya-jin.

Ultimate Super Saiya-jin

Height: 7'8

Hair: Platinum blonde, with tall, rigid spikes

Eyes: Completely white, no pupils

Ki Signature: Overwhelming within a wide power variance, with dark green emanations when powering up.

Important Notes: This form represents the pinnacle of Burori's development as a Super-Saiya-jin. Along with his greatly increased body mass and power level comes a marked change in his personality. The single-minded of his powered-up Saiya-jin and Super Saiya-jin forms is greatly suppressed, leaving him much more cognizant of his surroundings. Burori has shown wit, intelligence in tactics, and the desire to toy with his prey when in this form. Like all Saiya-jins, the transformation to a Super Saiya-jin paints Burori's personality broadly with arrogance, making him fond of megalomaniac statements. Unlike previous forms, Burori as an Ultimate Super Saiya-jin is able to make sound judgments of his opponent's fighting powers, and he shows great delight in drawing out a fight with an enemy he knows to be inferior. However, against a capable foe Burori is merciless and swift, pummeling the opponent with all of his power.

Fighting Style: When in Ultimate Super-Saiya-jin, Burori stuns opponents by using his high pain tolerance to wade through his enemies' attacks in order to hit them when they are vulnerable. Although he is still capable of performing the many striking moves of his Super Saiya-jin form, he shows a greater tendency to grapple, using his extremely large size to overwhelm his opponent. The added versatility and strength of this form allows Burori to juggle his opponents, using combinations of strikes and grapples to prevent his enemies from mounting a successful offense. Ultimate Super Saiya-jin Burori uses both of the ki attacks of his previous forms, but adds two more. The first attack is a powerful energy barrier, which he uses to deflect attacks or force opponents to move out of melee range. The second new ki move is a charged energy bullet that he controls with his mind, moving and expanding it through concentration. The power of this attack exceeds that of the Kamehameha, but his inability to power-up the ki bullet after he has fired it makes it less versatile in a ki blast duel.

History

Burori, son of Paragus, had the unfortunate luck of being born on Planet Vegeta 3 days before the space pirate Freezer destroyed the planet. The Saiya-jin birthing rooms showed Burori's power read-out to be 10,000, a fighting strength seen only in legendary warriors. This great power would be the source of much anguish for the young child.

In the three days Burori spent in the baby ward, he was a crib mate with a Saiya-jin baby named Kakarotto. Kakarotto, whose father Bardock had abandoned him in favor of more prestigious battle assignments, cried constantly. The other baby's loud wailing caused Burori to begin crying, which marked the start of an animosity that would not be resolved until many years later.

Because of the child's innate power, King Vegeta feared that Burori would one day overtake his son as ruler of the planet. In order to head off what he saw as an inevitable disaster, King Vegeta ordered the young boy to be killed. Paragus learned of the plot and pleaded with the King for mercy, but instead was also marked for death. Paragus was hit with King Vegeta's ki blast, while Burori was stabbed by an assassin in his sleep. Father and son were thrown into a trash heap and forgotten.

Fate, however, was not yet willing to let young Burori slip into obscurity. On the night of the twin murders, the alien lord Freezer fought Bardock in an extremely brief battle in the space near planet Vegeta. Freezer's final attack not only incinerated Bardock, but also completely destroyed Planet Vegeta. The shock of the attack hitting the planet awakened Burori from his near-dead state, and the young child instinctively created a ki shield around himself and hi father, saving them from certain doom.

Although he survived that terrible night, the scars of the past would haunt Burori. The strain of using such great power at a young age, combined with the terrible fear he had felt in his first few days, drove Burori irreparably insane. As a young man Burori traveled the galaxy, smashing planets and murdering untold numbers in his blind adolescent rage. Paragus tried to stop the boy, but paid for his efforts when Burori struck out his father's left eye. Desperate to control his son, Paragus commissioned a scientist to create a mind control apparatus, disguised as jewelry, so that he could put a stop to his son's wanton acts of destruction.

Paragus's plan was successful, but the temptation of controlling such an incredibly destructive force proved too much for the one-eyed Saiya-jin. Since Paragus and Burori were to be killed to secure the future for King Vegeta's son, Paragus felt that it was only fair to pay Prince Vegeta back in spades, and seize control of his own empire while he was at it. Using the threat of Burori's might and stolen technology, Paragus rallied an army and set up a fake paradise to lure his prey out into the open. When Vegeta showed no interest in ruling a planet, Paragus hinted at a "Legendary Super Saiya-jin" who only the Saiya-jin prince has a chance of defeating. Vegeta took the bait, and the Z warriors followed him to Paragus's planet. The planet, which Paragus called "New Vegeta", was designed to be a tomb for Vegeta and his allies, because an enormous comet was predicted to strike the planet in a few day's time.

The plan may have worked, but for the appearance of Goku, known to the Saiya-jins as Kakarotto. Goku, investigating the destruction caused by the Legendary Super Saiya-jin, came to New Vegeta. The reappearance of the one who had made him cry awakened Burori's latent powers, and Paragus's mind control device could no longer adequately restrain his son. Burori broke free of his bonds, battling Goku and his companions. In short order Burori transformed into an Ultimate Super Saiya-jin, and his powers greatly outmatched anything that the DBZ warriors could offer. Despite valiant efforts by Trunks, Gohan, Piccolo, and Goku, Burori crushed his foes left and right, playing cat and mouse games with his enemies. Vegeta, paralyzed with fear, refused to enter the fight. After being accosted by Piccolo for cowardice and shamed by Goku's bravery, Vegeta entered the fight, only to be defeated in one blow by the Ultimate Super Saiya-jin.

Seeing that the fight was ebbing and that the planet would soon be destroyed, Paragus attempted to flee from the doomed New Vegeta in a space pod. But the lull in the fighting allowed Burori to catch up to his father, and after realizing the old Saiya-jin's treachery Burori crushed the space pod and threw it into the path of the advancing comet.

While Burori's attention was averted, Goku got a second wind and rose to challenge Burori for what would be the last time. Imploring his companions to give him their power, Goku leapt into battle with Burori, but Burori still outclassed him in every way. With brutal efficiency Burori tore into Goku, giving the Super Saiya-jin a terrible beating. Goku cried out for more power, but Vegeta, jealous of Goku's courage and certain of their doom, refused to aid him. Just as Burori was about to land the killing blow, Vegeta decided at last to lend Goku his strength, and Goku fended off the fatal punch. With the planet disintegrating around them, Burori and Goku charged at each other, but Goku's newly enhanced speed allowed him to land the first punch, which tore straight through Burori's ribcage. The Ultimate Super-Saiya-jin plummeted into one of the cracks on the planet's surface, while Goku and friends escaped the comet's blast at the last minute thanks to Piccolo's spaceship.

*Note: Burori's Defender's fan fiction Forgotten begins at this point.

Goku's strike seemed to be fatal, but Burori survived, crawling to a space pod with the last ounce of his strength. Barely escaping the blast of the comet, Burori's crashed into a remote, frigid land on the planet Earth. The impact of his crash created an enormous crater lake, and the cold environment quickly encased Burori in a block of ice. His powerful ki kept him alive in stasis for the course of the winter, until fate intervened again.

Goten, son of Goku, had traveled to the remote land to find the last of the mystic Dragonballs so that he and his friend Trunks could make a wish. During their adventures Trunks made Goten cry loudly, and the young boy's wailing was strikingly similar to his father's. The sound of the boy's cries reached Burori through the ice, and the powerful warrior burst forth from the icy prison, ready to fight his hated foe a second time. Burori terrorized Goten and Trunks, and would have certainly destroyed them had it not been for the timely intervention of Gohan.

Despite Gohan's vastly improved fighting abilities, he knew that he was still no match for Burori. Powering up to their maximums, Burori and Gohan fought furiously, with the older Saiya-jin gaining the upper hand in the fight. The force of their attacks tore open a crack in the Earth's crust, and Gohan tricked Burori into following him down into the molten rock, where the lava swallowed him. Even that was not enough to stop Burori, who used his ki shield to survive the ordeal. Tiring of the fight, Burori flew the highest point on the battlefield and unleashed an energy bullet of staggering power. Gohan countered with a Kamehameha, but could not push back Burori's attack. Goten joined in with a Kamehameha of his own, but even their combined skills could not defeat Burori. The Dragonballs would prove to be Burori's undoing, however, as they granted Goten's wish for Goku's assistance. Even Burori's best attacks were no match for a triple Kamehameha, and the Legendary Super Saiya-jin was hurled into the atmosphere, his heart exploding from his chest. The force of the blow threw him into the sun, ending his legacy once and for all.
