Match Verdict: Before the match a 3-1 win or 2-0 win would have sent Bayern through. Mourhino appeared at the start in the stadium but went back to the hotel. The first 20 minutes Bayern donimated and Chelsea must have been worried but somehow after half an hour Chelsea score. Lampard hit a shot from 25 yards with a deflected off Lucio and tricked Kahn. Chelsea survived until 65 mins when Ballack's shot was well saved onto the post by Cech and Pizarro tapped in the rebound. Chelsea found themselves in more trouble after that but when they finally got the ball back they scored. Cole appeared to be running the ball into the corner but he whipped in a great cross for Drogba to head home. This appeared to have finished the game with Chelsea defending deep but they pushed their luck. Guerrero, the sub for the unimpressive Makaay scored in stoppage time and then after the game should have already finished Scholl also scored. this didn't mater as chelsea will face Liverpool in the semis of champions league. |
