| Luton are doing well in the championship, pushing for the play offs and they were facing the European Champions. Liverpool were close to full strength with Gerrard, Carragher, Hyppia, Crouch and Alonso all featuring. Despite Luton starting well Gerrard gave Liverpool the lead with a curling shot from outside the box. Luton really dominated for the rest of the first half and should have been more than 2-1 up at half time. Howard and Robinson had scored quality goals Not too far into the 2nd half Liverpool won a debatable penalty. Cisse had his pen saved by Beresford though. Then just 2 minutes later Luton had another unfair penalty. However they converted it. 3-1. It looked bad for Liverpool but Luton looked more tired in the 2nd half. Pongolle was introduced and he quickly scored. Alonso then hit a curling shot from 40 yards to level the scores. Liverpool were playing like European champions again and another Pongolle goal saw them take the lead. Just to add to Luton's misery when their goalie came out to attack a corner the ball came to Alsono. He made FA Cup history by scoring into an open goal from 137 yards.
