Columns

The front porch is supported by six large wooden columns with Scamozzi capitals.  There are two half-round columns flanking the front door with Corinthian capitals.

Two columns topped with large corbels support the ends of the upper porch roof.  Similar columns flank the garage doors.

Brackets
The architectural details on the eaves of the house add much interest.  There are 218 brackets on the house. All were painted a brick red with sunshine yellow ends.

Colors
Earlier photos show all trim on the house painted white except the window frames, which were a dark green and brick red.  Instead of painting the window frames the dark colors, this made the windows recede and the house look gloomy, they were painted white with a ferny green border.  The dark green and red were instead used on the brackets, column trim, and porch detailing along with the ferny green and sunshine yellow accents.  A motif was designed, based on details from the leaded glass window.  This motif was added to all window lintels, above the garage doors and also to the carriage house doors.

Gazing Balls

Gazing balls or globes are back in style.  Two large stone planters flank the front walk.  Two green 12" balls were placed in each of these surrounded by ivy and flowers.
