| My name is Marisa. I'm 22 years old and living in Moscow, Idaho; not Russia... I was born in Homer, Alaska and lived there until moving to the Seattle area at age six. I then lived in Auburn, Washington until age thirteen. At this point, my parents decided to pack up and/or sell everything and just... leave. That's how I ended up in Idaho. Grangeville... how can I put this delicately... is not a lot like the Seattle area... Luckily, there are a few liberal, open minded people in the area, however difficult to find they may be, and I sought them out. Still, though, I was ecstatic at the prospect of going to college, and although I only made it 100 miles away, it's good enough for now. The college thing didn't work out, but the area is lovely. Anyway, let me assure you that Moscow is a million times better than Grangeville. I've discovered a wonderful thing. There are democrats in Idaho. There are also Taoists and Jews and Buddhists. It's amazing. When I moved to Idaho five years ago, I thought there were only white Catholic Republicans that grew up on farms... This is very eye opening to me. I now also attend a Unitarian Universalist church (everyone should go to a UU church sometime in their life. It's like nothing I've ever experienced before) and I've met all sorts of wonderful people. I am currently working as a desk clerk at the cheapest motel in town (where I also serve as a Northwestern Trailways bus ticket agent) in the mornings and then babysitting in the afternoons. I wish I were elsewhere doing otherwise. |

| I may possibly leave Idaho in the near future, because my boyfriend and I are heading toward an inevitable break up (my goal in life is to be Mommy, he'd rather have his eyes gouged out than have kids). I love doing artwork (portraits in particular), reading fantasy and sci fi, playing D&D, listening to music (Loreena McKennit, Fragma, Disturbed, ABBA, Static X, Rob Zombie, Primus, Enya, Nirvana, Tilt, Bj�rk, Gigi DiAgostino, etc), sleeping and cooking. I've also been re-hooked (after a five-year hiatus) on Magic: The Gathering, also. I spend far too much time on the internet (I run this site as well as a discussion board). I enjoy studying Unitarian Universalism and reading self help books. *grin* And now you know more about me than you ever wanted to. |
