INTRODUCTION
To the annoyance of Aqua's record company Universal, numerous covers and parodies popped up all over the world during the time of the Barbie Girl hype. Some of them were recorded by radio stations, others by known comedians, bands or individual artists from different countries. Many of the songs are not or no longer commercially available and are therefore hard to get. What you find here is a compilation of the Aqua covers, parodies and Karaoke versions that I have and/or know of. Interestingly, Aqua's second album "Aquarius" is far from being a popular target of parody, as "Aquarium" was. This may in part be due to the fact that the 2nd album was not nearly as successful as the first one and also because it is a little more serious. Especially, a song like "Barbie Girl" is missing.
To my knowledge, the Barbie song is one of the most often parodied songs ever and no Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera or Backstreet Boys can keep up with this. Some of this stuff is quite entertaining I have to say...or weird. René Dif once answered to the question about the most embarrassing moment in his life "the Smurfs singing Roses Are Red"...and after listening to the song I am inclined to believe him :-)

If you know of any other Aqua parodies or covers that are not listed here, please let me know. Note that there are alleged German or Hebrew versions that in fact are a Dutch version I already have. Additionally, some people seem to confuse French, Japanese, Chinese, Russian and Swedish...tststs. So please make sure it's really something new before you mail me. There are also still some lyrics missing. If you speak either Arabic, Danish, Dutch, French, Khmer, Norwegian, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Swedish or Tagalog you might be able to figure out the respective songtexts in your language.
