FIRST CHURCH OF GOD
LENA, LA

Rev. Ben Murphy, Wise, VA

On the Sunday evening before revival began, several of the faithful came together in a "Concert of Prayer" service asking God's blessings and presence in the upcoming revival.

Bro. Ben and his wife, Diania, came to share in this special time with our congregation. The trip was long and eventful, however, God kept them safe.

Bro. Ben delivered messages of hope and encouragement to the church all the while holding up the standard of the church of God. Several of his messages were based on writings from early "Gospel Trumpet" publications.

Along with good preaching we had some pretty good singing too. Several from the local congregation shared in song. In the 1980's and early 1990's Bro. Ben, Diania, Diane and Bro. Jack had made up the nucleus of a gospel group in Southern Illinois by the name of "Discovery." They were able to present music from that by-gone era to bless the congregation.

Saturday evening we enjoyed some of the best barbeque in the state of Louisiana. Brisket, chicken and polish sausage served up with some fine side dishes brought in by our own southern cooks and great fellowship. The children enjoyed the beautiful weather at the playground.

Sunday we were joined by a local group by the name of "The Ryan Perry Ministries" and they bless our hearts richly. They shared two songs in the morning service, then presented a concert in the afternoon. We also enjoyed a carry-in dinner and the children (and some adults) enjoyed pony-cart rides pulled by a little pony names "Holy Easter."
