White Tara
White Tara is the female bodhisattva of compassion and long life, who makes life vibrant, and at a deeper level helps to find the boundless life. White Tara has seven eyes, one on her forehead, two on the palms of her hands and two on the soles of her feet. These have a connection to the five eyes that have been explained in the Sutra of Perfect Wisdom, Prajnaparamita. They are the Buddha eye, the Wisdom eye, the Dharma eye, the heavenly eye and the earthly eye. The Wisdom eye sees the emptiness. The Dharma eye sees the means to help sentient beings. The earthly eye sees all earthly things both very far and near. White Tara is a very gentle figure in Tibetan Buddhism, and she has many compassionate, aesthetic, and peaceful aspects.
