This project meets the domain expectation
by having students use technology for review, research and for their final
presentations. The "team" uses suggested sites to review and learn
vocabulary. The "team" must work together to produce a television
set and research weather conditions in francophone countries. The "team"
then works together to produce the individual weather forecasts. The major
focus of this project is the learning of French weather vocabulary. Technology
is a tool in that learning process.
Rationale
This project meets both Indiana Foreign
Language Standards and also addresses the goals of our school improvement
plan.
Self-Evaluation and Reflection
In a self-evaluation of the teaching
methods that were used in this project, I determined that I had used a variety
of methods and integrated geography, math, science and technology skills.
Also, this project required that students work in a group and individually.
This project addressed both Indiana state standards and our school improvement
plan. Diversity needs were addressed through student grouping and allowing
research to be done by the group. I did find that the scripts that were produced
were often not of the quality desired, therefore I need to be more explicit
next time this project is used.
How Observed and/or Verified
This project was observed by several
other teachers. Two teachers lent students their rooms in order for attentional
technology resources to be made available. The results of the pre and post-tests
are presented in the exhibit.
Validation of
Student Learning
Student learning was validated through
pre and post-tests. Students made video presentations and turned in written
scripts for those presentations. Additionally, students wrote jounals in which
they did a self-evaluation of learning. Pre and post-project vocabulary tests
results have been graphed and included. All students who took bothe tests
showed increased knowledge of vocabulary.
