Domain 3
Domain Expectation 3.2
The candidate maintains, interprets,
and communicates records of student progress knowledgeably and responsibly,
using the latest available technology
Introduction
This domain requires that the candidate use technology
in order to maintain, interpret and communicate student progress. The
technology should facilitate the communication and record keeping process.
Title
GradeQuick Training and Gradebooks
Excel Speadsheets
Exhibit Explanation
Most of the elements of this exhibit involve the school gradebook software.
The program is used as the primary classroom gradebook. Additionally,
grades are electronically transmitted , midterms and report cards, and
student information is maintained by the office. As a member of the technology
committee, I was one of the trainers in the building for the program.
In the classroom, blank spreadsheets are printed to maintain daily records,
graph grades and assignment score reports are sent home.
Student grades on assignments and grading periods are graphed
to determine trends. These graphs are used to help determine when it is
necessary to reteach or readdress topics.
Excel is used to record standards that are addressed in
each class.
Rationale
The exhibit meets the domain requirements by showing the
ways in which records are maintained and the means in which student progress
is reported to the office and parents.
Self-Evaluation and Reflection
The records are maintained and updated on a weekly basis.
It would be benificial to send grade reports home on a more frequent basis.
How Observed and/or Verified
Records are maintained both within the classroom and the
office.
Validation of Student Learning
The graphs and spreadsheets show the standards that the
students have addressed, the grade trends and where learning has taken
place. The trends are also used to determine if reteaching is necessary.
