Sunday, February 13, 2005: It was a
great day for some snow ultimate with the sun shining and temps just above
freezing. With the the record snow this winter, many teams were
playing outside for the first time since fall. Thanks to another
snowstorm Wednesday before the tournament, most fields had between 5"
and 9" of snow with drifts up to 12" in some areas.
![]() After three rounds of pool play, pool winners met in finals.
Results for all games are posted below.
The championship game between UNH and Roger Williams was moved
to some fresh snow to make things more exciting. Aunt Flow jumped
out to a quick 3-0 lead, but RWU slowed UNH's transition game and
stepped up the defense as it battled back to finally tie the game at 5-5
on a quick lefty forehand up the sideline from Teddy B that Ryan(?) laid
out to dig out of the snow. With time running out before the cap
horn, the next point would determine which team took the halftime
lead. UNH worked the disc upwind to just outside the red zone when
Justin Warrington spotted a receiver open deep in the middle of the end
zone and managed to get the disc over the top with a sharply-angled
backhand. The next three points featured numerous exciting layout
d-blocks from both sides, but the scoring all came from UNH, which
took the capped game 9-5. |
