2000
the essence of peace is found within simplicity -
simple as a singular puddle on a forlorn dirt route
its still and tranquil beauty reflects unhurried motion
motion, rather, that is too slow to be sensed.
a single drop of the sky plummets into watery descent
rings emerge, alive with energy
high they rampage, calmed only by time
sinking once more into comatic slumber.
Splash!
the heavens cry from above
cascading their sweet tears in downward flow.
angry titans poison the water's surface;
the rings have reawakened to create oblivion.
thus are the secrets of the heart:
stone adorning its outer shell
guardian of pain and passion
a single crack leaves room for dampness to seep in
a single phrase triggers memories long repressed
the chain has begun; forgotten thoughts return
exploding into painful, aching sorrow
brought forth from one single tear drop.
one tear, one heart
one raindrop, one puddle
one life, undisturbed
except on those rainy days.
