| saying goodbye. |

This is going to be a fairly short note from me, I have lots of things to do and I'm going slightly crazy thinking of everything I have to get done before spring break next week! This past week, as you know, my boyfriend visited me from Rome. After arriving in London from Abergavenny on Monday, I took him on some tours of London, showed him around all of the famous sights, took in some of the famous food! On tuesday, I left John at the British Museum so that I could go to class (my school is right next to the BM), and Wednesday, I took him to Dickens' House, Wagamama's (a famous Japanese restaurant), Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Big Ben & Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, St. James' Park, and Buckingham Palace, which is quite a nice place to live I think! Thursday, he took a tour of London via bus and boat while I attended class...unfortunately, he had some tube problems on the way home... On Friday John and I hooked up with one of his friends from Rome and the three of us went up to Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare's birthplace. Because I had already been there, I waited outside while they toured his birthhome, but then the three of us went together to Nash's House, another Shakespeare home (where we managed to inadvertantly steal some guidebooks to the home), and then to Holy Trinity Church, where Shakespeare is buried today. It was quite nice! We ate at a pub for dinner (John's treat) before getting his friend back to the evening train to London. John & I spent the night in Stratford-upon-Avon before returning home Saturday and doing some shopping and walking around from Paddington to Regent's Park and Camden Town. Sunday I brought John to the airport to see him off...once again, goodbyes are so sad. We're going to see each other in a few short weeks when I end my back-packing through Europe, but I still miss him. :( I spent the rest of the day trying to plan my back-packing through Europe adventure with my friend..unfortunately, the guide book stating that one doesn't need reservations at hostels is completely wrong and we're finding ourselves trying to make last-minute reservations when most places are already booked. To boot there are language differences. Yuck. Anyway, as you can tell I'm under a little bit of stress trying to get all of this sorted out. The good news this week is that my friend Jane will be coming to visit Wednesday for a week here, I'm quite looking forward to seeing her! I'm hoping to be moving to a new flat by next week (to get away from this jerk of a pot-smoking surfer dude: we do live in a non-smoking flat and he certainly doesn't seem to care!), when I do, I'll send along my address! Back to studying for now, talk to you soon! |
