Day 7: Salzburg

We had the city tour in the morning.  Quite exhausting since it started at 8 and everyone was still half asleep.  We saw where parts of the Sound of Music were filmed and we also visited the Residenz.  That was where the Prince Archbishop of Austria lived oh-so-many years ago.  Rather than going to Eagle's Nest, we went shopping instead.  There were shops there that sell nothing but painted eggs.  One of the stores we went into had painted eggs piled from floor to ceiling.  Things in Austrian are almost half the price of Switzerland.

The "Old" town, built in the 7th century or so... the "New" town was built in 1700's.

Hmm... We had dinner at the St. Peter Restaurant, entertained by a quintet and two opera singers.  The dinner started at 7:30pm and did not end till 10:00pm.  Everything was perfect except that the room was very stuffy... they weren't allowed to put in air-conditioning since it would ruin the 7th-century building somehow.  I like Salzburg more than I like St. Moritz or Innsbruck... there was just so much to see.   Even the graveyard behind the monastery made a great tourist attraction.

Right outside a church... wonder if they played for money?
