Founded by Solar Spices and Liquors (SSL) at the site of an Old Scaled Ones missile base, Korlus is the oldest colony on Xuppy. In 185, the SSL gave up control of the colony to the Lemites in accordance with an Imperial edict, but not before they stripped it and the missile base of some equipment, notably the coke machines and a few dozen nuclear warheads later used by the Community in the genocidal attack against the Lemite burrows.
During the 185 Lexikonn (LEM-SED) War, Korlus was nearly destroyed by a combined force of SED and COM warships. It was rebuilt four years later, designated as INDependent and given the highly imaginative name "Lemite Colony". Most of the surviving burrows moved to the colony around 195. As of 201, the current population was well over 500,000. The colony was renamed "Korlus" and designated LEMite in mid-202.
By law, Korlus is a "Free Port", meaning that ships of all races and affiliations not on the Lemite posted list may trade and use the starport facilities.
