OK, now I need to talk about food. I thought about this yesterday on our drive back from Key West that I cant believe we havent mentioned anything about the regional food that we have been trying in our travels!! First of all, Keith and I love eating and our diet is totally out the window until we get to Hawaii. So lets start with the VERY fresh haddock and seafood chowder up in Halifax. Then there was the Poutine (french fries, gravy and cheese) in Yarmouth. When we visited my mom we went to my favorite resteraunt in the world St. Heberts. Its just a chicken place, but for some reason I have loved that place since I was little and we totally pigged out on the chicken, fries, gravy and bread! Then we have had New York style Pizza in NYC, Cheese steak in Phily, Crabcakes in Maryland, and real southern Bar-b-que in northern Florida, just outside of Georgia. Yesterday was by far the best for new cuisineconch fritters (huge snail like seafood that come from those shells where you can hear the ocean, ground up and rolled up with spices and dough and deep fried, Key Lime Pieand dolphin. NOOO, not the dolphin I am known for loving dolphin fish (yes, also called mahi mahi). So we look forward to many other new foods. If you know of a regional food that we should try along the way, let us know!
