At left we have a classical type of Condenser Electrode, the ones used in medicine many years ago... It's nothing more than a closed glass tube with partial vacuum inside with a metallic terminal inside.

Do you see the luminous fingerprints formed inside the tube?
As the tube has a partial vacuum inside subjected to a high voltage generator (not visible in the photograph), a discharge channel is formed, ending at my fingers which are functioning as grounding electrode (thus closing the circuit to earth). The end of the channel strikes the glass wall of the electrode, forming a "luminous fingerprint". This is what we want to register!!!

From the experiment we saw above we may have the general disposition to obtain the so called Kirlian Photographs: the finger is separated by a dielectric of some sort from a high voltage source, and a film sheet is set between the finger and the dielectric, so as to register the luminous image.

This topology will lead us to the construction of different types Condenser Electrodes.
