The Living Survivors Remaining in Jerusalem

Isa 4:3 And it shall come to pass, [that he that is] left in Zion, and [he that] remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, [even] every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem:

Here is a reference to the Jewish survivors who are left alive in Jerusalem and Mt. Zion. The distribution of the land will be according to the twelve tribes as found described in Ezek 48 with the Holy District (v21) belonging to the Prince or Jesus. It shall be a Holy District, and the Sanctuary of the Temple shall be in the center of it.

Zech 13:8 And it shall come to pass, [that] in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off [and] die; but the third shall be left therein.

This is telling us that there will be a purging of the occupants of Israel, and 2/3 of the Jews in Israel at that time are going to be cut off and die during the battle when Christ returns to earth. Since Israel has about 4 1/2 million Jews in it today, there will be about 3 million Jews killed on the day when Christ returns to them.

Zech 14:2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; ... and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

It is likely that most of the 1/3 or about one million and half Jews who survive will be in Jerusalem, as the Holy City Jerusalem is the only area that will be left alone by Gog and his troops during that invasion and will be the only area not to experience destruction until the earthquake.

Zech 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It [is] my people: and they shall say, The LORD [is] my God.

This is telling us about the 1/3 of the Jews who are refined as silver and gold are. The results of all this will bring them closer to their God. They will call on Him. He will call them "My people." And they will call Him their God.

Haggai 2:22 And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.

This is telling us that the kingdoms of the world will be no more. They shall all be overthrown. This will make way for the elect who are going to rule and reign with Christ over the world during His 1000 year kingdom.

Zech 14:14 And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance.

At first glance the meaning here is lost with the reference to Judah. During the period in which Zechariah wrote this prophecy, the nation of Israel was split into two halves. The northern 10 tribes were called Israel and the southern 2 tribes were called Judah and frequently they were fighting with each other.

Here we are told that they will be fighting together at Jerusalem which during the prophet's days Jerusalem was located inside Judah. Here also we have added that that as a result of this battle when it is over the survivors will gather the wealth of the heathen round about. This will be used to rebuild and especially for the new temple which will be erected under the direction of Christ in Jerusalem.

Ezek 39:4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that [is] with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and [to] the beasts of the field to be devoured.

Here we are being told that the numerous dead bodies that will be on the ground will be devoured by the birds of prey and beasts of the field. This will happen during the seven months it takes to gather and bury them.

Ezek 39:5 Thou salt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken [it], smith the Lord GOD.

In that day there will be many bodies all over the ground in Israel. Most of them will have fallen in open fields and will lie there until their bodies are found by the burial crews.

Ezek 39:6 And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I [am] the LORD.

Here we find that fire will fall upon Magog. This means that the Russian homeland will have fire fall upon it. Thus all shall know the Lord. As a result we are told in Zech 14:16 that the survivors of that day will travel to Israel every year to worship.

Ezek 39:7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not [let them] pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I [am] the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.

In that day god is going to make His Holy Name known to all His people Israel and they will not profane His Holy Name any more. All of the nations will know the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.

Ezek 39:8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this [is] the day whereof I have spoken.

Here God is giving us assurance that it is coming and shall be done. This is the day of which He has spoken of elsewhere in bible prophecy.
