Fences by August  Wilson

Jounra1 # what are some of the images and symbolic meanings the title of the
play transpire to you?
The images tell me a story of racism in the early 1930. When I see this cover it
reminds me of baseball the man in the cover looks like Jackie Robinson. This
book most likes about the racism fences dividing blacks and whites in baseball

Title Analysis

When i hear the word fences, i think like most people would
think , white picket fence that borders a house. But then again, other people can
think it would symbolize someone's secrecy and privacy. You can see  there are many interpretations of what a fence can me to different people. Fences are made to separate you from your surrounding neighbors or outside world. When I first heard this title and realized that the  symbol of a fence can be  different things, I wondered what people would be hiding behind fences . It could be good or it could be bad if you really think about it    I think fences is a good way to symbolize  people privcy  because sometimes
people just have to keep to themselves and be alone, whether they want to or
not. People's dreams might also be “fenced” within themselves because people
are afraid to show their true feeling, needs and desires. Even though no one
should. Just be you but give yourself some time to yourself some time “fenced”
from the world.

Creative Writing

In the story Fences their were many people with many different dreams. Dream
are something everyone needs to go for to feel good about themselves and
prove to themselves that they can do something.

One dream I always had was to be a model. I love taking pictures of myself,
being pampered, and being in the spotlight. Modeling, I felt, was the perfect
dream for me that I knew I had to achieve. Money was a huge problem in my
family because I don't have thousands of dollars to

just throw a way. My first step was to take pictures. I found a good
photographer and got real nice pictures. My next step was to get comp cards
but instead I got a better deal. Everyone kept telling me that this scouting
network, Wilhelmina, is a good exposing business. They are one of the top. So I
decided to attend an open call and all I got was perfect comments. They wanted
me to work with them and I decided too. A few days later I got booking
requests to several opportunities. That day was today. If I didn't fight for what I
wanted and go after it, no one would have. I will never give up and I promise
myself I will achieve it, as long as I believe.

Troy of knowing little about the way he was raised because Troy was in jail for
most of Lyons' childhood. Lyons and Rose convince Troy to give Lyons the ten

In Scene one act two, Cory, Rose, Bono, and Troy all discussed their conflicts
in their personal life. Troy was disappointed in Cory a wanted him to quite the
team. Cory didn't like his father's decision and tried avoiding him as much.
After Troy arrived from the court with Gabe, he began to build a fence with his
fried Bono. During this time he was discussing his relationship with Rose. Bono
was saying that Rose was the best women Troy ever had, and she doesn't
deserve to be treated with out respect.

Troy did admit he messed around with another women while still married to
Rose. The women Troy was messing around with, Alberta, did find out she was
pregnant by him and Troy was notified. He didn't know how to approach Rose
to tell her, so he laid it straight out. Rose, finding out her husband has got
another women pregnant, began to act like no other. She was upset, sad, and
curious. As a wife, Rose was the best. She did everything she had to do to
satisfy her husband, and she feels she gets nothing in return. Not physically but
mentally and verbally he left a permanent mark on her. She knows not that he
doesn't deserve to be trusted. As this scene comes to an end Rose tells Troy her
true feels towards him. She says that he always seems to take and receive but
never give in return. When Troy heard this, it blew his head off. He got very
aggravated begins to react physically. He pulls Rose's arm in a harmful way
ready to hit her, when Cory enters the room, witnessing his mom getting
pushed. Of course Cory tries to protect his mother and begins to pull Troy
away. Troy being surprised reacts with a blow to Cory's chest, which knocks
him to the floor. Rose is trying to stop Troy from doing any more harm to Cory,
while Troy is still screaming at Cory.

In this scene the conflict happening is man vs. man. The main conflict in this
scene is between Troy and Rose. Rose does try to avoid the conflict from
uprising by being calm about the whole problem. But obviously, it doesn't work
and Troy begins to act violently.
