We are a small family working together to breed these wonderful dogs.

John and Margaret live on 80 acres of land in the backwoods of Vilonia with the chows.  There, they have plenty of room to run and play.  Their dog house is insulated and is large enough for us to live in!  They are kept in great shape by playing tag with John when he isnt working.

John is the founder/owner of
"On The Spot Welding," where he does custom iron work for some of the upper level houses throughout the state.  Those fancy iron doors and sprial staircases in the LR Heights mansions?  Chances are good those are handcrafted by Mr. Leland himself!  He has also started investing in the Forex Market and has been very successful in his recent endevours.

Margaret works at the Conway Orthopedic Clinic as their Insurance worker and main "go-to" person.  She works at the clinic during the day, and still manages to maintain an active social life.  It isn't uncommon to see John and Margaret riding their Honda GoldWing Motorcycle across the state on the weekends when it isn't too cold out.  On their bikes, they have traveled as far north as Iowa and as far west as California's Pacific Ocean-  IN ONE TRIP!!

John Paul is the son of John and Margaret.  He is currently working at the ACE Hardware distribution center while he earns his credentials to start his own auto customization shop with Amanda's brother Ryan.  Being raised by chows, it was only appropriate for him to recieve Fuzzy as a Christmas present from Amanda the first year they were married.  That's what got all of this started!  After seeing Fuzzy and remembering what it used to be like, the Leland's decided they couldn't live without these wonderful fluff balls!

Amanda is the newest addition to the Leland family.  She and John were married in May of 2006.  She helped us get started with the chows again by introducing Fuzzy and helping us find our foundation.  She also gave us a name and built our new website!  Amanda is working on her last semester at UCA to get her degree in Science Education, and we will celebrate her graduation this May!  Other than family, Amanda's passion is her papillons, which you can visit online at
Serenade Papillons.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about our family!  We hope you enjoy your stay here at Dixie Land Chows and don't hesitate to drop us an email or fill out an inquiry for one of our chow babies!  We look forward to meeting you and your family!
Fuzzy was the one who started it all.  She joined our family on Christmas day at 9 weeks old, as a Christmas present to John.  We remembered all the joy these dogs have given us in the past and felt the desire to share that love.  Fuzzy is a big girl, just about an inch smaller than Dagwood.  She has tons of coat (rough of course) and believes she is a small lap dog trapped in the body of a big dog.  If you sit with her too long, she would slowly "sneak" into your lap.  In the summer we used to leave our front door open and Fuzzy "sneaked" across the livingroom, grabed a stuffed toy (which stay inside) and ran out the door to play with it outside.  Once outside, she rolled on her back to play with her toys!  Fuzzy was such a love, but because we decided to take the show route, we helped Fuzzy find a loving home where she will be spoiled as if she was home.
