| Miss Tiggywinkle (Tiggy) The Rescue that Wasn't Ferret Math has not been something that I have suffered from in bouts, it is a chronic syndrome for me which has to be kept under control with prayer and a big hammer. I pray that when we visit our local rescue shelter, that I will be able to help another lost baby; the hammer comes from my husband chasing me with threats if I dare to bring another one home, but it usually ends up him using it to help me to make new and larger housing to accomodate the "one that just had to have me as a mommy." I always go with the thought that if there is one there who chooses me, I will consider bringing him/her home, but now I am almost at full capacity with the six of them. However, before Tiggy arrived there was just the two; Roly and Becci. I had been waiting for quite a while to hear rehab. news about a little female ferret that was undergoing some training and TLC at the shelter before being rehomed. When I went to visit there were another couple there so I took a back seat whilst they were being dealt with. The owner of the shelter passed me the little ferret that I had come to see and she was good. She was friendly and fussy and then settled down for a snuggle. NO BITING. she had been a real problem biter a few weeks back. I was going to have another baby I could tell. After the other people had gone, I said that I would be willing to take this little girl, and she had certainly taken to me. I was already approved through Roly's and Becci's homing. I signed the necessary forms and set off for home. I phoned back about 5 hours later to say how pleased we were with the new girl, no offers of any biting or nervousness and that she was great friends already with the other two. It was then I discovered to my horror that my little girl was not who we thought she was. I had been handed the wrong ferret by mistake (easy done sometimes when there are many with the same markings.) This ferret actually belonged to the owner and had been keeping the little rehab. girl company. My heart sank.Would I have to return her then? (we had done a lot of bonding in 5 hours). The answer was "NO! We would not do that to you. We know that she will be happy and have a great time with you." Also we discovered that the reason why she is so friendly with Becci is that Becci took care of her when this baby was first weaned from her real mom. They remembered each other. Sooooooooooooo cute! So Tiggy was the rescue that wasn't, and the other little girl got a great home too! My shelter owners are the greatest!!!!!!!!!!! Thankyou for Tiggy (alias Maggie) |

| Tiggy is famous for her sleeping poses. Here she is bent in half snuggled up with Becci. In Pic #2 joined by Frankie and Pic# 3 by Roly. Notice that Tiggy does not move at all. The others join her and have to fit around her. This is her "dead ferret sleep" and she frequently gives me heart failure. LOL! |
