Becci arrived to live with us once we had got the hang of things with Roly. Another little ferret who was found wandering in a nearby village until someone caught her and took her to our local shelter. Becci is the sweetest little girl; always busy with something, she often gives the impression that she has lost something for which she is diligently searching. She occasionally stops off to say hello and inspect that we are not hiding whatever it is she is looking for but once greetings have been exchanged, (every half hour or so) she is back to her business. She is the one I always choose to introduce people to ferrets for the first time. She never ever nips and is very small and petite. She is extremely tolerant of everyone and everything, especially naughty kits. Because of this she was a wonderful nursemaid to Oliver and Midge when they arrived as tiny babies last summer. Becci's claim to fame is that her picture (see below) won a competition on the Acmepet site. The photo had to be of a pet in a new home. I took this picture on Becci's first evening at home with us and called it "Thankyou God for my new home, " It also features as the illustration to the Rescue Ferrets prayer at the "Fanciful Ferrets by Pegasus " site linked below. |
| "Thankyou God, for my new home" |
| Thankyou God.... For my new home and all those who have helped me. For those who took me from my roaming, fed and warmed me and gave me a name. For her who claimed me as her baby and gave me back a reason to dance, For my brothers and sisters and a family I can call my own. I am a lucky one, I have been blessed with luxuries that I never dreamed about. I pray now for all those others who sit in squalour, pain and without love, And ask you for guardian angels to put them into the hands of those who care. To help find belonging, love and happiness for every un-loved creature everywhere. |
