Bolded
Brocade Hill
Towering over Lijiang's
west bank is Folded Brocade Hill (diecai shan) in
north Guilin. The name derives from the odd
looking rocks which are broken horizontally. The
peak consists of Yueshan Hill,
Look-in-All-Directions Hill, Crane Peak and Bright
Moon Peak.
By climbing the stone pathway halfway up the
hill, one will come to the Wind Cave which runs
north to south. Inside, the cool breeze that blows
all seasons provides relief to its visitors. Here,
ninety images of Buddha from the Tang and Song
dynasties, as well as dozens of ancient stone
carvings, can be found.
After
passing through the Wind Cave, the Face-the-Cloud
Pavilion, the Over-the-River Pavilion and the
Summit of Bright Moon Peak can be seen. This is
where the Catch-the-Cloud Pavilion is. This
splendid view was already known during the Tang
Dynasty, some 1,000 years ago.
