Also Called the "Saint"

Thirty years ago, while visiting in the Chouf village of "Fraïdis", an old man asked me where I came from.? "I told him he had probably never heard of my tiny "Aitanit" in the Bekaa valley.
He answered: "Young girl I know every village in Lebanon. I used to walk from one to another to sell sheep, that's where my name Ghannam comes from. I certainly know Aïtanit and talking about that village, I will never forget this Daoud Kawkabani they used to call "The Saint". He was talking about my grandfather.
Over the years, I had built up a picture of him. I had never thought that his face could be that familiar !
