| W.A.R We'll Always Remember Chapter 1: Leaving home... 12 years ago... kotaru: saishi! ...saishi! it is raining, pouring actually, all over the streets while one small girl is sitting near several corpses holding her arm, which is wounded, crying out for her lost brother. why does she cry out and not run? does she not know there is danger still near her and she is just drawing it forth? finallysomeone from out fo nowhere comes out of an alleyway and snatches the crying girl out of sight. kotaru: ah! lemme go! *screams* yoshida: *looks down at her with a stern gentle gaze* kotaru: o.o ...o//o yoshida: *lands on a rooftop somewhere* *looks around* a dead body of a boy lies in the street a few steps from the other corpses. yoshida: <her brother...no use going back now if i could.> *sets her down* kotaru: where's my brother? did you see him? yoshida: *looks at her now with a pity look* kotaru: what? ;-; where is he? please, tell me! yoshida: <how old are you?> kotaru: huh? you didn't move your lips, but i hear you talking. ;.; how are you- yoshida: <please, how old are you?> kotaru: well-*sniffles* i'm 6! yoshida: <stay here. knock on the door behind you two times. if you're asked a question only answer "no, thank you." i'll come back when the war ends. you're in a safe place now, you'll grow up with these people. goodbye...*jumps off roof* kotaru: wait! *reaches out for him* *looks over the edge of the building seeing nothing*...where is he? where is my brother?? present day... kotaru: *wakes up in a cold sweat* where is he? where? ... a clock on the wall ticks and tocks while kotaru catches herself from fear and tries to slow her breathing. kotaru: that dream again. *wips head* kotaru gets out of her bed dressed in a nightgown and turns on a radio. radio: another 10 soldiers died in battle last night against demon forces leaving one survivor of the entire night squad, the leading officer, who has been recovered is now in the hospital for treatment and- kotaru turns the radio off and sighs. the night squad was the town's only defense and that meant only one thing. demons had invaded the town and would soon take over. she had tried to mentally prepare for this, but it all seemed to be failing her now. their force was growing everyday and kotaru felt death at her door every moment. the war between demons and humans had been going for 12 years now, would it ever end in her lifetime? (celt, kotaru's god-mother knocks on the door of kotaru's room). kotaru: who is it? celt: it's celt, your mother silly. kotaru: ...come in. celt: kotaru, dear, they've come to recruit you. kotaru: what? now? why?? *panics* mom! i can't! i have to stay here with you!! celt: i can take care of myself dear. you know as well as i do that without people to gurad the town us being here is futile. kotaru: <i know our town is close to the demon borderline...>but- celt: if you're thinking that boy will come back here, i can tell you i doubt it. the war is far from over. *smiles* pack your things, alright? then meet me in the kitchen, i want to give you something. kotaru: <celt...> *looks at her then shuts her door quietly* ~ now in the kitchen kotaru is starting to cry, but holding it in. kotaru: you-you wanted to see me? celt: kotaru, i know i've never been much of a mother to you since you arrived, and how could i when i'm not your real mother? kotaru: that's not true! you've been so kind to me though, mom. celt: *hugs kotaru*...that's why i want you to wear this. *hands her a black outfit* kotaru: *hugged* *takes outfit*what's this? o.o celt: a family heirloom for women in times of war. kotaru: i can't take this. it's from your family. you should give it to your children if you marry. celt: you are my child. the only one i have ever raised, even if we are not related by blood. kotaru: *cries and hugs her* mom! i don't want to leave you! what if i fail and they kill you? celt: oh...kotaru. *pats her on the head and ruffles her hair* ~ minutes later... (kotaru stands at the door now wearing the outfit celt gave her) celt: be strong...*hands her a metal pole* remember the tactics of defense? kotaru: yes. <concentrate and the pole will transform into any weapon...> celt: be careful, whatever happens don't cry. it only feeds their kind to see fear. kotaru: *nods crying and attempting to smile* soldiers: we've waited long enough. kotaru: goodbye cel-mom! ;-; celt: kotaru...my daughter, don't you cry whatever happens. goodbye. (kotaru walks away with the soldiers as celt watches on) celt: they do grow up fast...*sighs* leaving home was a new experience for me. i felt like i was leaving everything behind until i came back to see it again. in another sense though, leaving behind my past might be for the better. i'll settle my inner conflicts when i return. ~ Chapter 2: BANG! kotaru stands in a line with other recruits from her town as a woman in uniform walks in front of her. eri: greetings recruits and soldiers. as you might or might not know i am officer eri orochi commander of spring city night squad. kotaru: <officer orichi? wasn't she in the hospital?> eri: all of you have been drafted and recruited here, because you each posses a unique talent. unfortunately, i will not have time to train you. the demons arrive tonight so i- osage: orochi-san, might we traing before nightfall? eri: a child? *looks at osage* *approaches him* this will not stand, you should go home immediately. who recruited you? osage: i was told to report from general rogue, madame. i'm a student at *AMS and was requested to take part in this battle. *AMS: advanced military school eri: general rogue? ...ic. do you have any proof of this young man? osage: here's the official papers, madame. *shows her a slip of green paper* eri: *takes**reads*right then...as for training before nightfall, if you feel the need to do so you may, but we should all have energy for battle when they come so i suggest against it. kotaru: <stay awake, stay awake> eri: how many of you have fought demon before? .... eri: no one? well, no need to fear. most demon have the same weak points as humans. if nothing else we have with us a strong soceress. kotaru: a sorceress? eri: morimoto-san, please introduce yourself. (a girl with a cape and witch hat suddenly appears out of thing air between kotoru and osage) kotaru: o.O; eep! hikaru: i am hikaru morimoto of magi. *winx* osage: <why couldn't i sense her?> (pretty much all the soldiers are blushing from the sight of such a woman). soldier: i-isn't magi a group of vigilantes? o//o hikaru: yes, we are. <3 *blows a kiss at him* soldier: o///o *falls over* hikaru: *sighs* but the government finally managed to hire us. <i really don't mind though, as long as i can stay with eri.> eri: morimoto will be our trump card so to speak...our last resort. *looks at hikaru* now, i have rules that i must set down if we're all to go home alive. 1) no on tries to be a show-off or a blind hero 2) no one moves or does anything unless ordered to 3) no one leaves anywhere by themselves for anything, understood? everyone: yes mam'! eri: good, at ease! *walks off* kotaru: >.<; [to herself] i really have a bad feeling. orochi-sama's last squad was killed leaving just her. osage: are you really that worried? kotaru: huh? *looks down* *nods* osage: and they call me a child. *sighs* calm down. she's only failed once or twice and the second time was last night. kotaru: really? why was that? osage: ppl say her lover was killed last night and she just stood down after that, but those are rumors of which we should not concern ourselves with. kotaru: ...i feel sad for her. osage: people die in war, that's how it works. you should know that better than me. kotaru: yes, you're right but- u.u hikaru: *jumps into the conversation* hello there! are you two enjoying yourselves? kotaru: well...sorta of. i guess. osage: oh yeah, i sure am. *sarcasm* hikaru: hey, since we're all here we should get to know each other, right? osage: i highly advise against that. emotions distract the mind from goals in battle. hikaru: so you really are from ams, then? the way your so serious really breaks my mood. you're so young and yet such a stiff... osage: i'm not that young...<.< kotaru: are you a prodigy o.o// osage: i guess you'd call it that. -.-; hikaru: what about you? *pokes kotaru* kotaru: me? my name's kotaru, i'm no one special. just another recruit...^-^; hikaru: no way. n.n no one's "just another recruit" in eri's team. she's the second best officer in the human realm. so tell me, what makes you different? kotaru: well, i do know some alchemy...^.^ osage: you're an alchemist? hikaru: oo, an alchemist! what's your family's name? kotaru: muratabi, why? o.o hikaru: ah...just as i thought! you're from the black rose family! i could swear i knew those clothes! kotaru: black rose? hikaru: the black rose family members were the most powerful alchemists in the world up until 12 yeas ago! kotaru: well...you see, it's not my heritage. my godmother here in town adopted me so i took her family's name and- hikaru: everyone! from now on muratabi's title is the black rose! kotaru: wh-what?? o.o but i- everyone else: sure! alright! hikaru: don't sweat it, it's just a nickname. i've made one for everyone. right prodigy-san? osage: yeah...i feel so degraded. -.- kotaru: can i call you *sorce then? or how about magi? o.o *sorce is a character from another one of my stories called PNA hikaru: hikaru's fine...^-^ kotaru: okay hikaru-san. ~ night is drawing closer now as kotaru tries her best not to nod off. the moon has a tint of yellow upon it and you can barely see the stars. osage keeps pacing ever active for battle while hikaru is flirting with the other recruits. kotaru finally begins to sleep when osage taps her on the head. kotaru: hmm? >.> osage: you almost fell asleep. kotaru: oh...thank you for waking me. osage: this is ridiculous...it's 11pm for christ's sake. kotaru: um...excuse me. osage: hmm? kotaru: i never asked you your name. osage: i mentioned it when i spoke to orochi-sama. kotaru: oh...um- osage: it's osage hayashi. call me osage though. kotaru: okay osage-kun. may i ask why ou're so battle ready? osage: <she's really polite.> ...i want to prove myself. kotaru: why's that? *yawns* osage: my father, if you'd even call him a father, always says that i'm a child. i want to prove i'm not such a child, i want to prove him wrong that young people aren't as incompetent as they say. kotaru: *nods* just be careful. i'm sure your parents back home will miss you terribly if you die out here. osage: my parents are dead. kotaru: but you said...i'm sorry, how did they die? osage: W.A.R...that's all it says on their tombstone. along with the other victims, it means- kotaru: "we'll always remember..." osage: how did you- kotaru: my parents died in the war as well. osage: it's ironic, it says "we'll always remember," but i've never remembered them. i was born right before they died. kotaru: did someone adopt you? o.o osage: the military raised me, and soldier and his squad at first then a government official. he makes me call him my father, but in truth he's not. kotaru: ic...*nods* how old are you? osage: as old as this war. i don't know a time without it, maybe i never will. <but i keep having these visions of...> kotaru: *hugs osage* i'm sorry this happened to you. osage: hey! get off! *wiggles and flails arms* kotaru: o.o; opps sorry. *lets go* you just remind me of- (sirens go off around them suddenly. kotaru starts to take a run for it by instinct, but osage grabs her by the hand) osage: << this is not a drill for you, you have to fight remember? kotaru: o.o right! *takes out metal pole* osage: a transpole? kotaru: yeah, how do you know? o.o osage: i went to ams, remember? <.<; *presses a button on his watch transforming it to a shield* kotaru: a shield? osage: in my opinion it's the best defense and offense on any field. kotaru: *blinks* how so? osage: i don't have time to explain. here they come! eri: everyone stand your positions! (all the soldiers and recruits line ^ as a swarm of demons head their way snarling exc.) kotaru: <demons...so many demons> o.o; *starts shaking* *closes eyes* <alright, calm down. com'on concentrate and transform!> eri: get ready! osage: *gets into a defensive pose as spikes come out fo his shield* heh, so that's what he meant... kotaru: <go! please! celt needs me to be strong and protect the spring city with everyone else.> (nothing happens) eri: attack! *takes out gun and fires the 1st shot at a demon* (the demons and human run towards each other hitting a wall of the other opponent's fleet. they begin fighting. osage goes through thee crowd of them one by one killing and slashing. kotaru just stands there trying to get her weapon to work shaking like a leaf. finally a demon comes for her and she screams. osage jumps in at the last moment to slice the demon's head off). osage: *flings some remains off his shield* kotaru: t-thanks osage! osage: moron! don't you know what you're doing? kotaru: well-uh...*shaking in fear* osage: what's wrong? transform it already! didn't you godmother train you? kotaru: yes, but-sometimes it doesn't work and i-i- osage: don't let your weapon work you! you work it! *fighting off another demon* kotaru: but i-<i can't get those memories out of my head. i-> *suddenly grabbed* osage: kotaru! *still fighting* demon: mm...a tasty girl. i think i'll eat you alive...<w< kotaru: *struggling* <if only...if only i had mastered that thing...why?? why can't i do anything right?> osage: kotaru, use your weapon! *still fighting* kotaru: i-i can't! i can't move! osage: well do something! i can't get to you! kotaru: <why am i still so scared? it was 12 years ago!...why me? there are better people to fight these wars.> (osage is fighting and is suddenly bombarded by a bunch of demons) osage: ahh! kotaru: osage-kun! <no! why does this have to happen to me again? it's not fair! people should just be left along. why can't you demons-? why-> why can't you leave us alone! (kotaru's pole transforms into two blades and pierce the demon holding her). demon: ag-ah-ah, dammit...*drops dead* kotaru: go back to hell where you belong...*eyes suddenly more serious* (more demons head towards her and kotaru slashes her way to get to osage, but is surrounded by them once again. eri abrubtly appears with hikaru shooting demon's heads off. eri is using a gun, while hikaru is using pink beams from her fingers). eri: recruit, are you alright? kotaru: *helps osage ^*... osage: i'm okay. kotaru, are you- kotaru: we need to get out of here. osage: <what happened? she's different somehow...> eri: right. *looks at hikaru* morimoto-san, you have clearence granted to kill the whole crowd of demons with waves. hikaru: <like i need clearence...> understood, eri-chan. eri: you two! come with me! we need everyon to retreat to do this. *runs off* osage and kotaru: right! *they follow her* hikaru: ...my, my, all these demons. a poor little girl like me left all alone? oh my...*sarcasm* demon: hey there sweet cheeks. *grabs her* >w> hikaru: *looks at him with a fake seducing glance*hey...guess what handsome? >-> demon: *actually starts blushing* hikaru: you're gonna die...n.~ demon: o.O *suddenly blasted backward by a pink wave* ~ up on a hill... eri: stop here! that's far enough! (all the soldiers and recruits stop at eri's command and turn towards the battle scene). kotaru: *huff* *huff*...w-why did we have to move? o.< osage: you've never heard of hikaru morimoto then? kotaru: i know about the MAGI, but nothing specific about the members. osage: ...it's going to happen now. eri: *looks at kotaru*<that girl, the serious eyes i saw when she was fighting are now gone...> get down! *lies down on the grass* (all the soldiers get to crouching postions on the grass. osage ducks down pushing kotaru down in the process. a explosion of light pink waves comes from the battle field and goes over kotaru, eri, osage, and the rest of the fleet's heads. at the last moment kotaru looks up to see demons disapearing into particles while hikaru stands in a serious kind of trance. the light fades and as it does everyone stands amazed by the destruction of demons.) eri: *mumbling*i'm sorry...tasuki-cahn. no matter how many battles i win i'll never bring you back to me. kotaru: orochi-sama? are you okay? eri: it's nothing recruit. *walks off* osage: <were the rumors true then?> (hikaru drops to her knees in the distance right after kotaru looks at her). kotaru: hikaru-san! *runs down the hill* osage: hey don't slip you moron! the hill's wet from rain!! slow down! *follows after* eri: <morimoto, you let too much energy out again, didn't you?>*sighs* ~ the next day... (a bunch of tents are set up near the hill where the battle took place) eri: *walks into a tent where kotaru is sitting next to hikaru's bedside* you're stil here, i see. kotaru: o.o; huh-er-yes mam'! *saluts* eri: you could've gone home if you wanted, recruits don't have to stay with the army. kotaru: i felt it was my duty to stay mam'! eri: at ease, recruit. i'm just checking up on all the troops. kotaru: *sighs* *looks at hikaru* i was so scared. eri: of the battle? yes...i suppose you would be. probably your first time killing someone. you didn't seem very experienced when i first saw you. kotaru: i wasn't afraid of the battle, but what went on during it. i thought i was going to die...i thought osage-kun was going to die. eri: not on my guard...*sits* *changes subject* do you two plan on staying? kotaru: i'm-i'm not sure. if i do i can't always rely on everyone to save me can i? eri: *changes subject again* i'm surprised. kotaru: hmm? o.o eri: i'm surprised you cared enough to help morimoto. kotaru: why not? she's part of the team, right? eri: yes...and i'm glad you did that. morimoto, is one of my closest friends. *stands* i like your thinking recruit. you did a nice job today, keep it up. because of your small effort most of our soldiers and you 2 recruits survived. kotaru: uh-thank you mam', but hikaru-san did most of the work. eri: that's why she gets to rest as long as she has to. *leaves* ~ |
