| Pandora's Box ~*Chapter:1*~ It was one of those days when I just wanted to get away from everything. My parents were fighting again and I was trying to act like nothing was happening so my brother wouldn't get upset. I'm supposed to be the role model so that's how things are. He was upset anyway though and so was my stomach. All I could think about was moving out...I was 17 then. Now I live on my own in my own house. Onii-san writes me everyday and visits now and then, but I really don't see my parents unless it's holidays or birthdays. I don't like seeing them. I love them with all my heart, but I can't to be around them any more than I did. Since I was 15, I've been practicing this magic art of element mastering. My parents told me not to, but I practiced in secret. It's nowhere near witchcraft, don't get it mixed in with that junk. It's a practice my family's carried out for ages with the goddess' and god's that created the world. For some reason we stopped practicing it. I found a book on my 15th birthday filled with notes on how to summon and dispell elements that possessed someone's body. These 5 elements wind, water, earth, fire, electricity had all been mastered in my family. Although 1 had yet to be taken into account...light and darkness. They are both one and the same. These elements work by calling the goddess or god that controls them to give you permission to use the element for your own purposes. Most people use them for good. Firemen in our family used them to put out fires, some men used them to keep the heaters going during the winter. Things like these were used for good, so why would people want to stop practicing them? My parents at first thought it alright to teach me one element then stop. Earth...the easiest element to control. For 1 year Earth was my best friend. I used it to make fabulous sand castles on the beach, forts for the winter snowball fights, and even to save my family from an earthquake. Then I wanted to learn another element and my parent's said no. So I went on with earth and one day it possesed me. It's the weirdest thing, an out-of-body experience where you know what your doing, and saying, but it's not you. Earth told me then that it's real name was Mistress Core, the goddess of earth. Core explained about the goddess' and god's and told me that I could have the potential to reach the forbidden element. That all I need was training and she knew I could train myself rather well if I studied. I wanted to do it, no one else had. My parents would be so proud I thought, but they didn't want me to practice the family arts. They locked away the books, and I didn't know where the key was. That's the day Core told me about Master Piro, the god of fire. She said that Piro was interested in meeting me. How would I meet Piro the god of fire? I saw a match, lit it and spoke the words "Piro, I wish to meet thee..." Ever since that day it had been my pleasure to meet Piro every afternoon, Piro was an extreme personality and very violent, but kind and warm hearted. Core, Piro, and I spent times in the backyard on the plotted dirt ground where Piro couldn't burn the ground and get me in trouble. Recently I've been learning how to control water now that I live on my own I have acquired better learning on the elements. Mistress Aqua, the goddess of water was requested to meet me by Core. Piro doesn't like her presence, because he secretly fears she will put him out. I don't rather like her either, she's too bubbly and perky. She won't even utter a word to me though, much less obey me. I don't have time for her nonsense. Aqua needs to learn to be tamed, but I don't know what to do. Everytime she possesed my body I'd find I'd done something a little idiotic when I'd wake up. Usually including telling some market boy that I love him, when I have no interest in courting men right now. Men are just an inconvience for me. I don't want to be stuck to someone and called off as one person, but that doesn't mean I fear commitment. Already I am committed to my learning of these elements. Today I am going to the university again to find the books I need on Aqua and perhaps the next element of wind, which I know not the name of yet. I can't summon wind until I tame Aqua though, so until then my learning is halted. ~*~ (Aura a girl with short grey hair walks in the street of a town in a green college uniform). aura: i'm glad i made it to the university library before it closed. ^-^ whee! new reading! <3 *looks at books* hmm? ...what!? these are the same books from last time you dimwit!! *sighs* u.u firewoman: over there! that's where it is!! hurry! get over there real quick! it's flaming 3 stories already! *runs past aura w/ men following her* aura: marine? marine! marine: *stops* miss nocturne, you're out late and about. *approaches* aura: another fire? marine: yep, don't have time to chatter though. ar eyou gonna try to put it out again? you better hurry if you are young lady! *runs* aura: o.o <should i? maybe aqua would listen to me if I wantec to help someone.> *runs after marine* ~*~ @ the fire scene... marine: piro must be bruning tonight... aura: i need some water, please. marine: you're really gonna try? right then. boys get me some water! fireman: *hands marine a bucket* marine: *hands it to aura* we'll start putting out the fire and you can finish it off. aqua: o.o; right! *scoops water in her hand* u.u mistress aqua, goddess of water, i ask thee would though helpest me to put out this flme of your brother, master piro? ... aqua: thou asks kindly, but why should i waste my power on a mortal's battle? aura: >.<# wouldst thou not save a life if one be in the building? aqua: does thou question my generosity? aura: no! marine: there's a girl in the building! she's trapped! girl: help!! aqua: pethetic... aura: mistress aqua, i find you petiless and a coward!! i'll save her on my own! *fwaps water off her hand and runs into the building* aqua: <such courage she has to speak up to me and rush into battle unarmed. i suppose core must truly be right about her>. ~ aura: (in building) <she was on the 2nd floor, right?> *running through building* girl: help!!! aura: <or she could be right here.> *runs to her* are you alright? girl: who-who are you? *coughs* (tears run from her eyes). aura: my name's aura. don't worry, i've come to save you. take my hand! girl: *takes aura's hand* aura: *grabs the girl's hand, pulls her up, and carries her* *runs* alright, we're out of her! (some stairs that lead upward fall blocking their path) *stops short* <oh shoot, which way is out now? i'm blocked and the i can't tell with all the flames!>. *coughs* girl: (crying) i wanna get out! aura: don't worry, we will. *coughs* <why am i lying to her, there's no way we can get out of here. unless...*sets the girl down and gets a blanket that isn't burned to cover her* hey, what's you name? girl: melody...;.; aura: well melody, i think i can get us out of here. melody: *coughs* how? ;.; aura: i need you to call my friend here so he can help us. you need to say his name, because i'm not sure i can. melody can you say "piro, aura need your help and-" *passes out* melody: *cries* miss aura! miss aura! wake up! ...piro. piro!! aura needs your help! please piro! T-T *covers aura in the blanket as well* (silence occurs ofr a few moments. then in the blaze a person appears walking toward aura and melody. he looks like a normal boy with a red, orange, and yellow outfit with red hair. as he walks the flames move away from him). piro: are you melody? i heard your voice child. tell me, where is aura? melody: *uncovers aura from the blanket* piro: aura! *runs to her and shakes her by the shoulders* aura: *coughs, opens eyes shortly, then passes out again* piro: moron! why did you rush into a flaming building! *sighs* melody, can you prop aura up? melody: wh-why? piro: just do it! melody: ;.; k...*props her up* piro: ...i'm sorry i yelled at you alright, but if i touch aura directly she'll burn to death. *closes eyes* thank you dear child... melody: how are we going to get out? ;.; piro: just wait. *hugs aura* aura, thous is a vessel, let me fill thee. *fuses into her* (aura wakes up with red hair and now dressed like piro) aura/piro: melody, take my hand. we're leaving. melody: (utterly amazed) ... *takes aura/piro's hand* aura/piro: *carries melody* (the flames suddenly part like a sea as aura/piro walks). ~ marine: that's it! we're goin' in!! aura/piro: *comes out* (the building behind her silently collapsing) - aqua: *watching from heaven* piro? possesing a female mortal? much less that girl, it is very odd of you to do that my brother. - marine: aura? is that you? aura/piro: ...*hands melody to marine* marine: no...you're someone else. where's aura? *looks around* aura/piro: she's in here with me, mortal. *points at herself/himself* i am piro. marine: o.O piro? the fire god? you finally possesed aura?? aura/piro: it's time for me to go. take care of aura and i'll bless you, don't and i'll break you in half. <.< marine: o.o; yes, honorable piro! *bows* (piro leaves out of aura's body as a cloud of steam. aura turns back to her normal self and falls foreward. at this point the fir is out and melody is with her parents. marine catches aura before she lands on the ground). ~ End of Chapter~ ~*Chapter:2*~ I had finally been possesed by Piro. Piro had always been willing to cooperate with my wishes to modify fire, but he had never accepted my offer to be possesed, because I'm a woman. When I was possesed by Piro I felt like someone was giving me a warm loving embrace. Everytime I think about it my face gets all flushed. I suppose I'm embarassed about it and so is Piro, for when I mention it he gets angry with me. It's true that Piro can not directly touch me, because if he did the unseen flames from his body would kill me. What is life like for him then, if he can't really touch anyone around him. I'm sure he can't embrace his sister, because she would turn to steam or she would put him out. They've never really gotten along in the first place, and I've always wondered why. I think I now know that because they can't get close enough they are always feeling distant towards each other. This relationship is the same with me and my brother. Since he still lives with mother and father and I don't wish to come home we always feel so distant and we do not get along very well. We still love each other though unconditionally. I say whether or not your close or not you should always have unconditional love. Does that sound a bit idelistic and foolish to you? I feel silly saying such things... After the fire Aqua agreed to let me use the element of water. I think that by seeing her brother had gone thus far with me she would do the same. Aqua is a very cheery person once you get to know her, but she is a bit idiotic when she is being happy and whimsical. It was after I tamed Aqua that she suggested I go on a trip by boat so I could really test her power. This was actually a good suggestion, because I had been wanting to go to Mithriel to find books on the elements for so long. I've always been excited at the idea of traveling, but my studies kept me here in Goldenrod. ~*~ aura: this is the ship? o.o (a big luxurious ship stands in front of aura who is today wearing a blue and purple themed outfit). shipmate: a bit small ain't she? aura: no! not at all! she's much bigger than anything i could have hoped for! shipmate: aw...thank you, but if you want to complement the ship then talk to the captain. aura: the captain? where might i find him? shipmate: ah, he be talking to the crew at the moment. may i take yer bags miss? aura: sure. please careful with them though. shipmate: oh...no worries. *picks up the bags* (a strange boy with black hair passes by aura accidentally bumping her. he doesn't bother to say sorry for this, but keeps walking seeming to be in a hurry.) shipmate2: all aboard! she's going to set sail! shipmate: better get on missie. aura: o.o erm-right. *looks at the boy* <why is he in such a hurry?> ~ (the ship sets off sailing as people stand at the port waving goodbye to their loved ones. aura sits reading a book on the deck on a crate of somesort. the strange boy that bumped into her is sitting close to the front of the ship looking forewards, anxious to get where he's going. suddenly a boy with white hair, wearing a grey outfit approaches aura with a smile on his face). boy: hello there, m'lady. <3 aura: *looks at him for a second and continues reading* boy: how are you today? ^-^ aura: just fine thank you. boy: i see you're reading a book on boats and ships. my favorite subject. aura: really? what do you know about boats and ships? boy: A boat is a small vehicle for traveling on water. It can have oars, paddles, or sails to make it move. A ship is a large boat that can travel across deep water, such as a sea or ocean. It's is built to carry people or goods for a long distance. aura: *blinks* you do know about boats and ships. boy: do you know the difference between a boat and a ship? aura: hmm? <.< boy: size...just like men. some are boats and some are ships. aura: o.O;; *hides her head in the book* boy: oh...i'm sorry. that sounded crude. i shouldn't talk of such things around ladies. aura: the difference between a ship and a boat is size, but what's important is what's carried inside them. *coughs* *reads aloud from book* large ocean-going vessels are called ships; while all other craft are called boats. various types of boats include canoes, rowboats, and sailboats. boy: *reads the next paragraph while looking over her shoulder* ships are one of the oldest and most important means of transportation. For hundreds of years, people have sailed the seas to explore, to settle, to trade, and sometimes to conquer. today, trade among countries still depends heavily on ships. ships sail along seacoasts, cross the oceans, and travel on inland waterways. Many different types of ships are used and for many purposes. aura: you can read this writing? boy: of course! i'm versed in all languages of the world. i have to know them to control this ship. aura: you-you're the captain?? boy: oh darn, i guess the secret's out. yes, i'm the captain. captain kappa at your service, otherwise called "sprite," but my ship name is kappa. aura: o.o; nice to meet you captain. kappa: please, call my kappa until we reach land. then you can call me sprite if you like. ^-^ <3 aura: ...tell me. do you like being captain? o.O kappa: *sits next to her* of course. i get to go where i want and do what i want as long as i do my job i'm set for life. aura: sounds interesting...so what do you transport other than travelers? kappa: well, other than you and that sir over there, my current job is transporting fruits and vegetables to the people of Mithriel. aura: we're the only guests you have? kappa: this week, yes. business used to be booming until recently. other rival ships having been getting better at moving quickly across the sea so we've been a little unsuccessful. aura: i see. o.o kappa: enough about the ship and myself. please, i haven't learned your name yet miss. aura: it's aura nocturne. it's nice to meet you captain kappa. kappa: oh please, just kappa for now. aura: ...right. kappa: what might your business be in Mithriel once we arrive? aura: i plan to get some books for my studies, but most of my plan was to take this ship for the experience of being near the water. kappa: oh? and why is that? aura: a friend told me that i should get to know the sea, that it would help me with my studies. kappa: you sound very intellegent *smiles gently at her* and you have the grace of a goddess. <3 aura: ^-^; shipmate: cap'n, we need ye below. will's stuck on the ingrediant's for stew again. kappa: i told you...*sighs* everyone's called by their ship name here zaza. zaza: sorry cap'n, but he's barely been on the ship long enough. kappa: that's not an excuse. ghe's part of the crew...so what shall you call him? hmm? zaza: merma, cap'n kappa. kappa: excuse me for a moment miss aura, i have duties to attend to. *stands and walks off* aura: <why do they have ship names here? is it a code of some sort?> ???: something's coming... aura: <is he talking to me?> something good or something bad? ???: something ominous...the sky is going ot darken. aura: <a storm?> who are you? ???: *walks past her* aura: <alright...that was weird.> *looks up* the sky...a storm? aqua...do you hear this? aqua: <yes! we must prepare! don't tell anyone though!> aura: <wh-why? it's dangerous! 2 out of 3 people have been to fall of a ship these days.> aqua: <humans must beat through hardships of nature in order to grow as a race. they have managed. besid3es what would you say when they ask how you have acquired such information?> aura: <...fine, but that doesn't mean i can't help.> ~ dining hall beneath the deck... shipmate2: merma, what did i tell you about using a cook book? o.o merma: a what? kappa: oh, wait a sec! *digs into his shirt* here ya go. srry everyone, i had the book. ^^; merma: oh! is that a cook book? i thought it was just- zaza: just cook something scurvy knave! cap'n and everyone else be starved! merma: geez, i didn't know you were so starved. i'm sorry! ^-^; jiva, can you get me some pig for this dish? shipmate2 (aka jiva): sure, i guess. but why me? royale's beeter at this kind of thing. royale: who said my name? i'm coming, i'm coming. *sparkles* ^o^ ahh... zaza: >.> would ye knock it off! ye be a pirate, not a lady! royale: a stern man called my name, a gentle girl suddenly blushes to the red of a rose. everyone: ; ~ aura: *suddenly turns red* o.o *shivers* ???: *puts a blanket over her shoulders* the captain says the meal is finished. aura: ...<wh-why is he being so strange?> ty. *stands and begins to walk off* ???: the storm will come tonight. be ready... aura: *stops for a moment hearing this* *keeps walking* |
