MY DAY
six a.m.
alarm clock screams
wake up from
a wonderful dream
out of bed
use the john
turn my curling iron on
brush my teeth
wake the boys
stumble over
all the toys
get them dressed
brush their hair
who forgot
their underwear
put on your shirt
brush your teeth
yes your shoes are
on the wrong feet
get myself dressed
turn the coffee on
curl my hair
put my make-up on
get in the car
stop at daycare
hugs and kisses
have fun at school dear
baby to gramma's
kissy koo
see you pumpkin
I love you
off to work
can't be late
punch in
another eight hour day
punch out
another work day done
get the kids
more work has just begun
take off your shoes
go watch t.v.
got to cook dinner
no time for me
serve up the grub
get them a drink
then wash the dishes
piled up in the sink
then referee
my wrestlers are fighting
no kicking no hitting
no scratching no biting
stop that I said
be nice to your brother
go to your room
because I'm your mother
time for their baths
then get them to bed
pop ibuprofen
for my aching head
do some laundry
clean up the toys
get your butts in the bed
little boys
time for my bath
a moment of quiet
time to get away
from the riot
get out of the tub
sit down for awhile
and as I rest my head
on the pillow I smile...
