FIREWORKS
Everyone was busy preparing
to watch the fireworks display-
I was busy shedding tears
as I watched you pass away.
People packing up their lawn chairs
and everything they'd need that night-
I was making all the phone calls
to tell you'd given up the fight.
They were having beer and hotdogs
as the fireworks were underway-
I removed the rings from your fingers
before they came to take you away.
Another Fourth of July is here
we'll take the kids to see the show.
To them, it's Independance Day-
To me, it's the day you had to go.
The beautiful show of fireworks,
the brilliant explosions fill the skies.
The cheers of people fill the air-
as tears fill up my eyes.
They are celebrating our country,
the red, white and the blue
To me, the fireworks are but
a celebration just for you.
