T'ai Chi

These classes are not available through correspondence.  Students must take this classes in-person through their local instructor.  Currently, instructors with The Order of the Sacred Star are only located in and around Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

 

Level One (29.1001)
Cost:
Level One T'ai Chi is the very fist level (obviously).  When taking this course, it is assumed that the student knows nothing about Ta'i.  Upon successful completion of the test, the student will receive a white sash.  In order to complete this level, the student must be able to perform one short form of T'ai Chi, and be familiar with basic Chi Kung.  Extension and three standing meditation exercises are also necessary, as are two basic pushing hands drills.  Before testing will be allowed, the student must complete a total of forty class hours and write a multiple choice test.  The student should purchase a uniform from their instructor for the class, though this is not required.  Shoes appropriate for this class can also be purchased, though these are not necessary, and many students choose to work barefoot.

Level Two (29.2001)

Prerequisites: 29.1001
To take this class, students must have successfully completed Level One and attained their white sash.  Upon successful completion of Level Two, the student will receive a yellow sash.  Some requirements for this level, in addition to all previous material, are: one long form of T'ai Chi, advanced Chi Kung, five applications of the T'ai Chi form, and two intermediate pushing hands drills.  Before testing will be allowed, the student must complete an additional forty class hours and write an essay test.  A uniform is required for this level and beyond.

Level Three (29.3001)
Cost:
To enroll in this class, students must have successfully completed Level Two and attained their yellow sash.  Upon successful completeion of Level Three, the student will receive an orange sash.  Some requirements for this level, in addition to all previous material, are: two short and 2 long forms of T'ai Chi, five additional applications of the T'ai Chi form(s), and two advanced pushing hands drills.  Before testing will be allowed, the student must complete an additional fifty class hours and write an essay test.  Appropriate shoes are required for this level and beyond.

Level Four (29.4001)
Cost:
In order to take this class, students must have successfully completed Level Three and attained their orange sash.  Upon successful completion of Level Four, the student will receive a green sash.  Some requirements for this level, in addition to all previous material, are: basic energy work and pressure points, basic free push hands exercises, demonstrate at least three basic chin-na exercises, and demonstrate yielding in pushing hands.  Before testing will be allowed, the student must complete an additional fifty class hours and write an essay test.

Level Five (29.5001)
Cost:
To enroll in this class, students must have successfully completed Leve Four and attained their green sash.  Upon successful completion of Level Five, the student will receive a purple sash.  Some requirements for this level, in additional to all previous material, are: working solo and with a partner, basic sword form, basic free hands, intermediate level free pushing hands, and demonstrate ward-off energy.  Before testing will be allowed, the student must complete an additional fifty class hours, and write an essay test.  Also, the applicant must teach at least one class of applications.

Levels six through nine coming once the instructor is appropriately qualified.
