Grade Snoop
I'm sure that most readers know about sites such as Gradebinder, Gradebook, and Sungard Pentamation.  They are sites that allow parents to view their offspring's grades behind their backs.  That's right.  Suppose, you have a "C" in a class, but you can easily bring it up by interims.  Your parents will never know, right?  Wrong.  Dead wrong.  These sites make sure that they know.  And they will ground you, because we all know that the best way to handle a student struggling with a class is to ground them.  Fortunately, I usually get good grades, so this is not much of a problem.  However, it's the principle of the thing.  Sites like these with individual grades should not exist.
Now, of the sites that I mentioned, Sungard Pentamation is by far the worst.  It also contains attendence information, such as when you are late to class.  Why parents need to know that, I don't know.  Now, I have no problem with these sites if they are only used for Elementary School and Middle School.  High School is another story.  The entire point of High School is to prepare for college.  When their kids are in college, parents won't be able to type in a web address and a password and see their grades.  That just doesn't happen. Why?  Because the grades belong to the students.  They are adults.  Parents also do not get access to college students' attendance.  That would be rediculous.  So, since High School is about preparing students for college , it should also be about preparing parents to be the parents of college students.  That means no Grade Snoop!
